    With the yearning of love,

    my passion swayed me.

  2. فرحت في ولوه

    وجئت باصطلام

    So I went in bewilderment,

    and came in overwhelming rapture.

  3. ولي حبيب قلب

    اكثر لي سقامي

    And I have a beloved of my heart,

    who has increased my sickness.

  4. رؤيته شفائي

    وذكره مدامي

    Seeing him is my cure,

    and remembering him is my wine.

  5. فكري به كفاني

    عن الربا البسام

    My thoughts of him are enough for me,

    in place of the smiling hills.

  6. قد حل في فؤادي

    مذ شت عن خيامي

    He has settled in my heart

    since he went far from my tents.

  7. يا حب اين عهدي

    لم ترع لي ذمامي

    O beloved, where is my covenant?

    You have not kept faith with me.

  8. حفظ الوداد طور

    من شيم الكرام

    Preserving affection is a practice

    among the virtues of the noble.

  9. خل الجفاء وارحم

    هدير دمع دامي

    Abandon coldness, and have mercy on

    the roar of bloodied tears,

  10. تبعثه سيولا

    لواعج اضطرامي

    sent forth in torrents

    by the searing pangs of my ardor.

  11. اقسم يا حبيبي

    بالبلد الحرام

    I swear, O my beloved,

    by the sacred city:

  12. شخصك في فؤادي

    معزز المقام

    your person, within my heart,

    holds a place of honor.

  13. وفي هواك سمعي

    صم عن الملام

    And in my love for you, my hearing

    has grown deaf to reproach.

  14. فارفق بعبد رق

    يمتُّ بالغرام

    So be gentle with a slave in bondage,

    bound to you by passionate love.

  15. واسلم ورح امينا

    من نوب الايام

    And be safe, and go secure

    from the misfortunes of the days.
