To the Al-Gauth Al-Husseini Al-Dasuqi

I extended my hand upon the firm covenant.

I extended my hand on the strong covenant

عسى ان الامام ابا خليل

عسى ان الامام ابا خليل

يساعدني ويصلح لي طريقي

يساعدني ويصلح لي طريقي

May the imam, Abu Khalil,

Perhaps Al-Imam Abu Khalil

help me and set my path aright.

Will help me and fix my path

فكم لجنابه من مكرمات

فكم لجنابه من مكرمات

اذا بعد الصديق عن الصديق

اذا بعد الصديق عن الصديق

For how many acts of grace belong to his august presence,

For his grace has many favors

when friend is far from friend.

When the friend is far from the friend

واحوال مباركة وعزم

واحوال مباركة وعزم

ينوب عن الاحبة والرفيق

ينوب عن الاحبة والرفيق

And blessed states, and a resolve

And blessed conditions and determination

that stands in for loved ones and the companion.

Take the place of loved ones and companion

عليّ الجاه شيخ هاشمي

عليّ الجاه شيخ هاشمي

جلا لمحبه كاس الرحيق

جلا لمحبه كاس الرحيق

A Hashimi shaykh, exalted in rank,

The sheikh of Hashimi has prestige over me

he unveiled for his lover the cup of pure wine.

His love's cup is sparkling

واستاذ عنايته بحق

واستاذ عنايته بحق

مجربة لانقاذ الغريق

مجربة لانقاذ الغريق

And a master whose care is truly

And his care as a teacher in truth

proven in rescuing the drowning.

Is proven to save the drowning

له في الشرق بل والغرب صيت

له في الشرق بل والغرب صيت

عظيم قام بالمدد الحقيقي

عظيم قام بالمدد الحقيقي

His renown in the East—indeed, in the West as well—is

In the East and even the West his fame

great; he has rendered true succor.

Is great with true support

ونهضة همة بطويل باع

ونهضة همة بطويل باع

ترد اخا الفراق الى الفريق

ترد اخا الفراق الى الفريق

And a surge of aspiration, with a long reach,

And the ambition with long experience

that brings the brother of separation back to the company.

Returns the brother of separation to the group

وبأس حيدري موسوي

أذاق عدوه حر الحريق

And Haydari, Musawi might,

And the Haydari, Musawi might

that made his enemy taste the heat of the blaze.

And glory that came from ancient nobility,

And the glory came from ancient nobility

a descent from the people of the ancient House.

Descending from the people of the ancient house

لاصحاب العبا رفعته حقا

لاصحاب العبا رفعته حقا

ذؤابة اصله العالي العريق

ذؤابة اصله العالي العريق

To the People of the Cloak, truly, he was raised

The owners of banners rightly raised him

by the crest of his lofty, deep-rooted lineage.

A proud original root

فما اعلاه من اصل كريم

فما اعلاه من اصل كريم

وما ازكاه من فرع وريق

وما ازكاه من فرع وريق

So how exalted is that noble root!

So high is his noble origin

And how pure is that leafy branch!

And so pure is his branch and twig

ويالله من حسب تباهى

ويالله من حسب تباهى

صدور ذو به بالغرث الدسوقي

صدور ذو به بالغرث الدسوقي

And, O God, what noble lineage, proudly vaunted—

By God, what a lineage to be proud of

Coming from Dasuqi, so fruitful

اتى بغريب اسرار المعاني

واحكم نظم جوهرها الانيق

He came bearing wondrous secrets of meaning,

He came with strange secrets of meanings

and perfected the stringing of their exquisite jewels.

And the most skilled composition of its elegant essence

وقام بدولة العرفان غوثاً

وقام بدولة العرفان غوثاً

فكان امام اصحاب الطريق

فكان امام اصحاب الطريق

And rose as a Ghawth in the realm of gnosis,

And stood as a helper with the state of mysticism

so he was the imam of the companions of the Path.

So he was the imam of the people of the path
