يقولون تعفو عن فلان وقد بغى

يقولون تعفو عن فلان وقد بغى

فقلت نعم ان تاب طبعا عن الذنب

فقلت نعم ان تاب طبعا عن الذنب

They say, 'You pardon so-and-so, though he has transgressed.'

They say you forgive so-and-so though he rebelled

So I said, 'Yes, of course, if he repents of the sin.'

I said yes if he repents of course from the sin

يراودني عقلي بقطع حباله

يراودني عقلي بقطع حباله

فيوقفني اصلي ويرجعني قلبي

فيوقفني اصلي ويرجعني قلبي

My mind urges me to sever my ties with him,

My mind tempts me to cut his ropes

So my lineage holds me back, and my heart draws me back.

But my origin stops me and my heart brings me back

وان كريم القوم يعفو تفضلا

وان كريم القوم يعفو تفضلا

وغفران ذنب الحب من سنة الحب

وغفران ذنب الحب من سنة الحب

And indeed, the noble one among the people pardons out of generosity,

And the generous of people pardon voluntarily

And forgiveness of the beloved's sin is part of love's tradition.

And forgiving the sin of love is the way of love
