لذيل اللوى الشرقي والعلم الغربي
The whistling of the garden sparrows turned my heart
The warbling of Riyadh's birds twisted my heart
Toward al-Liwā’s eastern skirts and the western landmark hill.
To the tail of the eastern twist and the western flag

نسيم صبا ربع تربع في اللب
And longing’s fire in the realm of my breast was kindled
And lit the fire of passion in the world of love
By the east-wind breeze of an abode enthroned in my mind.
The breeze of youth settled in the heart

لارجاء سفح البان والمنهل العذب
And a heart melted by separation’s pain grew restless
And stirred and melted from the pain of longing
For the reaches of the bān-tree slope and the sweet watering place.
No hope for the slopes of separation and the sweet spring

Tears, exhausting the lovesick lover’s strength as it poured.

وتذكار رسم الحي الا الى الحب
By the life of lofty virtues, yearning and weeping
By the life of majesty, yearning and crying
And recalling the encampment’s traces are directed only toward love.
And remembering the image of the beloved is only for love
