The sincere adviser said, “You hid love beneath the cover
The sincere friend said: "You've hidden love stealthily
of the heart’s secret, and did not grow distraught with pain.
A secret of the conscience, unperturbed by the pain

So, as evidence, from its concealer’s eye arose
So evidence arose from your averted eye
against you concerning it the upright witnesses: tears and sickness.
Upon you the tears and illness turned and twisted
وقدand indeed نقشتyou traced بأقلامwith pens الغرامpassion بهthrough it

And through it, with the pens of passion, you have traced
And with the quills of passion you've inscribed him
upon your cheeks the likeness of yellow bahār flowers and red ʿanam shoots.”
Like musk upon your cheek and the mole

So I said, “What concealment, when the signs are plain,
So you said: “What concealment when the traces are apparent
as plain as a fire lit for guests at night upon a hill?
Like the blaze of a village's fire by night on a flag"

So the truths of what I concealed are not hidden
So no truths have I harbored hidden
from the talebearers, nor is my ailment ended.
From the talebearers, nor my sickness diminished

إنindeed المحبthe lover عنto العذالthe reproachers فيin صممdeafness
But my concealment is to curb those who equate others with them;
Rather my concealment, like the virtuous’ restraint
indeed, the lover is deaf to the reproachers.
For the lover, from reproach, is deafened

As my strength and treasure in loving them, I have taken
I've made my capacity and reserve in their love
Muhammad, the most faithful of all creation to his pledges.”
Muhammad, the most faithful of creations in oaths
