مربوطة كالفرع من حبلنا
The magnanimity of the lords in our lineage
The nobleness of the Sadats is inherent in our origin
is bound like a branch from our rope.
Tied like a branch to our rope
تحيرwere bewildered الجهالthe ignorant فيby فعلناour deeds
تحير الجهال في فعلنا
كلامناour speech مرbitter علىto أهلناour kin
كلامنا مر على أهلنا
The ignorant are bewildered by our deeds.
It confuses the ignorant in our action
Our words are bitter to our kin.
Our words passed down among our people
وأنناand that we عنهمfrom them لفيindeed in معزلisolation
وأننا عنهم لفي معزل
مظاهرmanifestations العزglory بأسمائناin our names
مظاهر العز بأسمائنا
And we are indeed apart from them.
Yet we are secluded from them
The signs of glory in our names
The facets of glory in our names
موروثةinherited مناfrom us لآبائناto our forefathers
موروثة منا لآبائنا
والبشرand cheerfulness مبسوطspread out بأرجإناthroughout our quarters
والبشر مبسوط بأرجإنا
are inherited from us by our forefathers.
Inherited by us from our fathers
And cheerfulness spreads throughout our quarters.
And people are delighted by our pastures
وقومناand our people حلوsweet لاnot مدائناapparently, our cities
وقومنا حلو لا مدائنا
وعنand from جوادthe steed البغضhatred لمdid not ننزلwe dismount
وعن جواد البغض لم ننزل
And our people are sweet—not our cities.
And our people are sweet not resentful
And we have not dismounted from the steed of hatred.
And we did not descend from the generous haters
