صارhas become الأنيسthe comforting companion موحشيmy source of loneliness
صار الأنيس موحشي
وقدand indeed أقامhas settled فيin الحشاthe heart
وقد أقام في الحشا
The comforting companion has become my source of loneliness.
My companion has become desolate to me
And he has settled within my heart.
Though he dwells in suburb close by
مقاربdrawing near مباعدkeeping away
مقارب مباعد
يفعلdoes ربىmy Lord ماwhatever يشاHe wills
يفعل ربى ما يشا
Drawing near, yet keeping away.
An intimate, yet so far away
My Lord does whatever He wills.
My Lord does as He desires
