احبتناour loved ones الأُلىwho كانواthey were وكناand we were
احبتنا الأُلى كانوا وكنا
وقدand indeed اخذواthey took جميعall الصبرpatience مناfrom us
وقد اخذوا جميع الصبر منا
Our loved ones, who once were, and so were we,
Our dear ones were and we were
And they have taken all patience from us.
And they took all patience from us
ذكرناهمwe remembered them ومناand from us القلبthe heart حناyearned
ذكرناهم ومنا القلب حنا
ويومand on the day تولتturned away الاظعانthe caravans عناfrom us
ويوم تولت الاظعان عنا
We remembered them, and the heart within us yearned,
We remembered them and from us the heart grieved
And on the day the caravans turned away from us.
And when the fingertips turned from us
