without the manners of the heart—
Without the politeness of heart
and how many slips there are in your speech!
And how many slips of the tongue you have
متىwhen تنالyou attain رضاهمtheir approval
متى تنال رضاهم
بذيwith these الطباعtraits المخلهimproper
بذي الطباع المخله
When will you win their approval
When will you earn their satisfaction
with these improper traits?
With these flawed natures
قلtell ليme بحقكby your honor وانصفand be fair
قل لي بحقك وانصف
أذاكis that حالthe state of المولهthe love-enraptured one
أذاك حال الموله
Tell me, by your honor, and be fair:
Tell me for your own sake and be fair
Is that the state of one enraptured by love?
Is this the state of the master
ماno للعبادةfor worship قدرworth
ما للعبادة قدر
إنif أسستit is founded فوقupon علهa defect
إن أسست فوق عله
Worship has no worth
Worship has no value
if founded upon a defect.
