O driver of pale camels, gladden us by mentioning those

For whose meaning we yearn whenever they are mentioned.

A people with a place in the heart's spacious courts,

And a trace in the hidden corners of its secret.

But for the repeated strains of their meanings, there would be no stirring

Of hearts within us, nor would life stories delight us.

They were absent, yet—yes, by the covenant—the sight of them was not.

Nor did the eye, when it gazed, see anyone but them.

And one of meaning's wonders is that they are forever

In the heart and the eye, whether absent or present.
