1. يا مصطفى الرحمن يا أحمد

    لك العلا والفضل والسودد

    O chosen one of the All-Merciful, O Ahmad,

    Yours are exaltation, excellence, and lordship.

  2. يا حجة الله على خلقه

    يا من هو المصدر والمورد

    O God's proof to His creation,

    O you who are the source and the watering place,

  3. سر من الله بدا كل من

    يشهد لله له يشهد

    A mystery from God appeared; everyone who

    Bears witness to God bears witness to him.

  4. محمد الخلق سراج الهدى

    شمس الكمال السيد الايد

    Muhammad, creation's lamp of guidance,

    The sun of perfection, the mighty master.

  5. ذخري حبيب الله نور الهدى

    الهاشمي الانجب الامجد

    My treasure is God's beloved, the light of guidance,

    The Hashimite, the noblest-born, the most glorious.

  6. كل البرايا ترتجى فضله

    ما مر يوم او تولى غد

    All creatures hope for his bounty,

    As long as a day passes or a morrow departs.

  7. نلوذ بعد الله في ظله

    وهو المغيث المسعف المنجد

    After God, we seek refuge in his shade,

    And he is the succorer, the helper, the rescuer.

  8. ان مسلم اخطأ اعتابه

    فهو كئيب خاسر مكمد

    If a Muslim misses his thresholds,

    Then he is sorrowful, at a loss, grief-stricken.

  9. اعطاه مولاه حمى واسعا

    اليه انواع الندى تسند

    His Lord granted him a vast sanctuary;

    To him are ascribed all kinds of bounty.

  10. فبابه المعمور باب الرجا

    وغيره في الكون لا يقصد

    So his frequented door is the door of hope,

    And no other in the universe is sought.

  11. حي لعمر الله في قبره

    يسعف بالله وقد ينجد

    By God's life, he is alive in his grave;

    He gives aid through God and indeed brings rescue.

  12. وعينه عن نصرة المرتجى

    احسانه الفياض لا ترقد

    And his eye, in aiding one who hopes for

    His overflowing kindness, never sleeps.

  13. لو تبع الناس هداه اهتدوا

    او شيدوا شرعته شيدوا

    If people followed his guidance, they would be rightly guided,

    Or if they raised up his sacred law, they too would be raised up.

  14. مذ تبعت امته نهجه

    دان لها الاقرب والابعد

    Since his community followed his path,

    The nearest and the farthest yielded to it.

  15. نور الشهود المصطفى المجتبى

    سر الوجود الاوحد الاسعد

    The light of witnessing, the Chosen One, the Elect,

    The mystery of existence, the peerless, the most blessed.

  16. طلسم كنز السر من بابه

    لله ألباب الورى تصعد

    Talisman of mystery's treasure; through his door

    The minds of humankind ascend to God.

  17. آه على تقبيل اعتابه

    فتربها لمقلتي اثمد

    Ah, to kiss his thresholds!

    For their dust is antimony kohl for my eye.

  18. لو مس وجهي بثرى بابه

    وذا هو المأمول والمقصد

    If only my face were touched with the soil of his door,

    And this is the hope and the goal.

  19. للبارق اللماع من طيبة

    مقلة قلبي دائما ترصد

    For the gleaming lightning from Taybah,

    My heart's eye always keeps watch.

  20. يعدني الظن بقربي لها

    متى اراه ينجز الموعد

    Expectation promises me nearness to her;

    When shall I see it fulfill the promise?

  21. علة ذرات الورى حلها

    فبثراها يبرأ الارمد

    The cause of creation's atoms dwelt in her;

    Thus, through her soil, the sore-eyed are healed.

  22. سادات كبار الالى اعبد

    والمصطفى حامي الحما السيد

    Great masters—those are servants,

    And the Chosen One, guardian of the sanctuary, is the master.

  23. والانبياءُ الزهر نوابه

    نشرا وطيا ركنه المسند

    And the radiant prophets are his deputies,

    In unfolding and folding, his pillar of support.

  24. انعم به من سيد تحتمي

    بظله السادات والاعبد

    How excellent a master he is! They take refuge

    In his shade, the masters and the servants.

  25. لا يذكر الله على غير ما

    سن ولا يدعى ولا يعبد

    God is not remembered except in the way

    he prescribed; nor is He invoked or worshipped otherwise.

  26. وقد طوى في القوم احواله

    وعم فيهم بحره المزبد

    And he has concealed his states among the people,

    And his foaming sea has encompassed them.

  27. وملأ الدنيا باطرافها

    نواله وفضله الاوحد

    And the world, to its farthest reaches, has been filled

    By his gifts and his peerless bounty.

  28. عبيده ادنى عطاياهم

    النضار والياقوت والعسجد

    His servants' least gifts are

    Pure gold, rubies, and gold.

  29. شوس ملوك الارض في بابه

    تيجانها خاشعة تسجد

    The proud kings of the earth, at his door,

    Their crowns bow down in humble prostration.

  30. وترتجى اليوم وبل في غد

    منه يدا اذ يرهب المشهد

    And today—nay, on the morrow—they hope for

    A helping hand from him when the scene inspires dread.

  31. يا مصطفى البارىء من خلقه

    يا روح جسم الكون يا احمد

    O chosen one of the Creator from among His creatures,

    O soul of the body of the universe, O Ahmad,

  32. دارك عبيدا حبل آماله

    بغير اعتابك لا يعقد

    Rescue a humble servant whose cord of hopes

    Is tied to no thresholds but yours.

  33. وانت بعد الله مقصوده

    تسأل بل تطلب بل تقصد

    And, after God, you are his goal:

    You are petitioned—nay, sought—nay, turned to.

  34. صلى عليك الله ما ابيض

    تلاه من طرز الدجى اسود

    May God bless you so long as whiteness

    Is followed by blackness from night's embroidered bands,

  35. والآل ابنائك والصحب وال

    غوث الذي مدت اليه اليد

    And the family—your children—and the companions, and the

    Succorer to whom the hand was outstretched.
