1. نسيم الصبا إن زرت زورا وسامرا

    فروح فؤادا من مذاق الأسى مرا

    O breeze of the east, if you visit Zawra and Samarra,

    then soothe a heart made bitter by the taste of sorrow.

  2. وإن جزت صبحاً بالغري وكربلا

    وطبت شذى نحوي قبيل الأسى مرا

    And if in the morning you pass through al-Ghari and Karbala,

    and grow sweet with fragrance, pass toward me just before sorrow comes.

  3. فإن لقلبي بالربوع وأهلها

    غراماً حرا قلبي به ممتلي حرا

    For my heart holds, for those dwellings and their people,

    a burning passion; my heart is filled with its heat.

  4. منازل آل عظم اللَه قدرهم

    وعطر في معناهم البحر والبرا

    Dwellings of a household whose rank God has exalted,

    and with whose essence He perfumed the sea and land.

  5. مخازن علم اللَه وراث عبده

    رسول الهدى مولى صدور الورى طرا

    Repositories of God's knowledge, heirs to His servant,

    the Messenger of guidance, master of the hearts of all humankind.

  6. حماه ضعيف لاذ في ظل بابهم

    وذيل الرجا في سوح أعتابهم جرا

    Protectors of a weak man who sought refuge in the shade of their gate,

    and trailed the hem of hope through the courtyards of their thresholds.

  7. أسود وسادات سراه أماجد

    مناقبهم جهراً نمت وسمت سرا

    Lions and lords, eminent leaders and glorious men,

    their virtues grew openly and rose high in secret.

  8. ملوك ملوك الالمين بأسرهم

    وعلة عليا دولة الملة الغرا

    Kings over all the kings of the worlds,

    and the cause of the radiant faith's exalted dominion.

  9. سلالة كرار الرجال الذي دحا

    بخيبر ذاك الباب فارتج وافترا

    Descendants of Karrar, the tireless assailant of men, who hurled away

    at Khaybar that gate, which shook and split apart.

  10. سباع بغاب الغيب غابوا عن السوى

    وخلوا الهوى فاستبعدوا العبد والحرا

    Beasts of prey in the forest of the unseen, withdrawn from all else,

    and forsook desire, thus keeping both slave and freeman at a distance.

  11. هم النسخة الكبرى هم البرزخ الذي

    مطلسمه في عالم الاصطفا سرا

    They are the supreme replica; they are the isthmus whose

    talisman remains secret in the realm of election.

  12. هم الحيطة العظمى التي شمس فضلها

    على برج ميزان العلا نورها قرا

    They are the supreme encompassing sphere, whose sun of bounty

    has its light resting upon the sign of the Balance of exaltation.

  13. هم سطر قدس خط في لوح حكمةٍ

    بحبر جلال ما درى رمزه القرا

    They are a line of holiness inscribed on a tablet of wisdom,

    with ink of majesty; readers have not understood its cipher.

  14. هم مهبط الأسرار من حضرة العمى

    وقيد فيهم ربنا النفع والضرا

    They are where mysteries descend from the Presence of the Cloud,

    and our Lord has bound benefit and harm to them.

  15. هم موجة البحر الجليل التي على

    سواحل ألباب الورى قذفت درا

    They are the wave of the majestic sea that, onto

    the shores of humankind's minds, has cast pearls.

  16. هم المظهر العلوي والحضرة التي

    على الكون فضلاً نور كوكبها ذرا

    They are the heavenly manifestation and the Presence whose

    star's light has risen above the cosmos in bounty.

  17. هم الهيكل المحض الذي جل قدره

    وفي ذيلهم إسعاف من طهر السرا

    They are the pure temple whose worth is exalted,

    and at their hem is succor for whoever purifies his inward secret.

  18. هم الألف الممدود في كل ساعةٍ

    على أصله باء البداية قد ورى

    They are the outstretched alif; at every hour,

    the ba of beginning has indeed sparked at its root.

  19. هم العسكر الغيبي والموكب الذي

    لسلطانه ركب الملائكة انجرا

    They are the unseen army and the procession whose

    sovereignty has drawn the cavalcade of angels along.

  20. هم للورى تلك السفينة قد نجا ال

    ذي فيهم قلباً تمسك وانسرا

    For humankind, they are that ship: saved is the one

    who held fast to them in his heart and rejoiced.

  21. هم حبل كل العالمين لوصلة ال

    إله وباب للذي أمل البرا

    They are the cord of all the worlds for union with

    God, and a gate for whoever hopes for goodness.

  22. هم الآية الكبرى وفي الغيب أبريا

    من العيب والنقصان سبحان من برا

    They are the supreme sign and, in the unseen, are free

    of flaw and imperfection—glory be to Him who created them!

  23. تدور بهم في الكائنات رحى الملا

    وكم ثابت من بأس ميدانهم فرا

    Through them, among created beings, the assembly's millstone turns,

    and many a steadfast man has fled the might of their battlefield.

  24. أبوهم أمير المؤمنين وجدهم

    أمين إله العالمين أبوالزهرا

    Their father is the Commander of the Faithful, and their grandfather

    is the trusted one of the God of the worlds, Abu al-Zahra.

  25. عليهم سلام اللَه أني بحبهم

    أهيم على الضراء ما دمت والسرا

    Upon them be God's peace; indeed, in love for them I

    wander in rapture through adversity and ease, as long as I live.
