قد افترى عاذلي ظلماً على بلا
حقjustification وأكثرand abounded بالبهتانin slander والتهمand accusations
حق وأكثر بالبهتان والتهم
My reproacher has indeed slandered me unjustly, without
My slanderers falsely accused me of wrong
justification, and abounded in slander and accusations.
With no right, and heaped calumnies upon me.
وماand did not درىknow إنthat صدقيmy sincerity فيin محبةloving منthose whom
وما درى إن صدقي في محبة من
أحببتهمI loved them وعلوand nobility النفسof the soul منamong شيميmy traits
أحببتهم وعلو النفس من شيمي
Nor did he know that my sincerity in loving those
Yet they know not my sincerity in loving
I have loved, and nobility of soul, are among my traits.
Those I have loved, and my soul's nobility.
لذاكfor that reason رتبةrank قدريmy worth لنwill not تحطbe lowered ولنnor will
لذاك رتبة قدري لن تحط ولن
يرىsee مناهhis wishes حسوديthe one who envies me قاصرlimited الهممaspirations
يرى مناه حسودي قاصر الهمم
Thus my standing will not be lowered, nor will
Thus my worth shall never diminish, nor
my envier, of paltry ambition, see his wishes fulfilled.
Shall envious fools ever attain their hopes.
