My only aim is to see

My only intention is to see you

you, though the fluids [possibly: obstacles] have multiplied.

As the fluids have multiplied

فاسمح لعيني بالشهو

فاسمح لعيني بالشهو

د دففيه منك القلب قانع

د دففيه منك القلب قانع

So grant my eye the sight

So allow my eyes desire

—[probably: for therein] the heart is content with you.

My heart is satisfied with you

واترك جفاك فبعده

واترك جفاك فبعده

لم تدر ما الرحمن صانع

لم تدر ما الرحمن صانع

And abandon your coldness, for afterward

And leave your dryness

you do not know what the All-Merciful will do.

For after it you don't know what the Merciful will do
