قامarose فيin طبعهhis nature عليagainst me عتوinsolence
May my father be his ransom: whenever I complain to him,
By him whose love has made my heart its home,
Insolence toward me rises in his nature.
Who answers when I call with raging woe-
واذاand when ماever (emphasis) لهto him ذكرتI mentioned ولوعاardently devoted
حبهlove for him قالhe said ذاthis محالabsurdity ولهوand play
And whenever, ardently devoted, I mention to him
If e'er I named his name in plaint, he said:
My love for him, he says, "This is absurdity and play."
"'Tis fancy's work, forswearing it we go."
واذاand when ماever (emphasis) حلفتI swore باللهby God انيthat I
غبتI became absent عنيfrom myself بهthrough him وماand not فيin me لو"if" (reservation)
And whenever I swear by God that I
When I invoke God's name in oath, that I
Have lost myself in him, with no "if" in me,
Will leave his love, he answers: "There's no show

صادقtruthful قالhe said ليto me يمينكyour oath لغوidle talk
A lover with a fluttering heart, deeply smitten,
Of truth in this." He who has lodged my heart
Truthful—he tells me, "Your oath is idle talk."
In pain's abode speaks truth; yes, this is so.

No, by Him who graced him with wondrous beauty,
No! None but he whose locks the breeze has kist,
In which is a sweet embroidery of loveliness,
Whose charms are like a garden fair aglow,

And a figure like a branch that has bewildered my mind,
Whose swaying form enchants my frenzied soul,
And a beauty that has left my body wasted today:
Who makes my cheek the rose's envy grow.

I have not changed in my love for him, nor have I betrayed;
I'll love none else, nor change, nor break the vow,
And whoever betrays is filled with harm.
Though with unnumbered woes my way I go.

May the Lord never let me look upon anyone else
No other love is lawfull in my eyes,
With love, nor may it be lawful for me to harm him.
So Heaven decreed and so has ordered it.
