يوم النوى من دمعي السيال
And by the memory of days of union, and what flowed
And by the days of union and what transpired,
Of my streaming tears on the day of parting:
When my tears flowed on the day of parting,
قدindeed غبتyou have been absent لكنbut أيyes وآياتand by the signs of الهوىlove
قد غبت لكن أي وآيات الهوى
تمثالthe image of شخصكyour person لمnot يزلcease فيin باليmy mind
تمثال شخصك لم يزل في بالي
You have been absent, yet—yes, by the signs of love—
You may be absent but signs of passion,
The image of your person has never left my mind.
Your image remains etched in my mind,
اظننتdid you think? اسلوI would forget بالفراقthrough separation جهلتنيyou did not know me
اظننت اسلو بالفراق جهلتني
اناI فيكin loving you منthe one whom تدريyou know ولستand I am not بساليone who has forgotten
انا فيك من تدري ولست بسالي
Did you think separation would make me forget? You did not know me.
I thought I could endure separation, I was wrong,
In loving you, I am the one you know, and I have not forgotten.
You know how attached I am, though I pretend otherwise,
ياO ناقضاbreaker of عهدthe covenant of المحبةlove لمnot اخنI betray
يا ناقضا عهد المحبة لم اخن
عهديmy pledge وحاليand my state فيin غرامكlove for you حاليmy state
عهدي وحالي في غرامك حالي
O breaker of love's covenant, I have not betrayed
O you who broke the pact of love, I did not,
My pledge; my state in loving you remains the same.
My promise and state is still one of loving you,
سترىyou will see مصيركyour fate اذsince غدرتyou betrayed وتنجليand will become clear
سترى مصيرك اذ غدرت وتنجلي
للعارفينto those who know حقائقthe realities of الاحوالcircumstances
للعارفين حقائق الاحوال
You will see your fate, since you betrayed, and there will be revealed
You will see what fate awaits, if you betray,
To those who know, the realities of circumstances.
Truth becomes clear, dispelling conflicting claims,
الحقtruth عدلjustice والحقيقةand reality شمسهاits sun
الحق عدل والحقيقة شمسها
يجلوdispels قتامthe dusty gloom of تباينthe divergence of الاقوالstatements
يجلو قتام تباين الاقوال
Truth is justice, and the sun of reality
Justice is truth, and truth is a sun,
Dispels the dusty gloom of conflicting statements.
Whose light clears the darkness of diverging words.
