I sought refuge at the thresholds of the beloved son of Hashim,

I seek refuge in the thresholds of the beloved son of Hashim

leader of the foremost noble messengers.

Before the chests of the honorable messengers

رسول الرضى رب المعالي محمد

رسول الرضى رب المعالي محمد

مثيب الغنى مفتاح كنز الغنائم

مثيب الغنى مفتاح كنز الغنائم

Messenger of favor, master of lofty honors, Muhammad,

The Messenger of consent, the Lord of high ranks, Muhammad

giver of riches as reward, key to the treasure of spoils.

The rewarder of wealth, the key to the treasures of booties

سراج بطاح القبلتين وكوكب ال

سراج بطاح القبلتين وكوكب ال

جود ومصباح الهدى للعوالم

جود ومصباح الهدى للعوالم

Lamp of the plains of the two qiblas, and star of

A lamp illuminating the two holy mosques, and the star of

generosity, and lamp of guidance for the worlds.

Generosity and the lantern of guidance for all worlds

Book of the sciences of the unseen, revealer of sealed

The book of unseen sciences, the revealer of the

secrets, prince of the Arabs, master of non-Arabs.

Secrets, the prince of Arabs, the master of non-Arabs

دليل المصلين الكرام وسيلة ال

دليل المصلين الكرام وسيلة ال

ملبين هادي كل داعٍ وصائم

ملبين هادي كل داعٍ وصائم

Guide of noble worshippers, means of approach for

The guide of honorable prayers, the means of

those answering the call, guide of every supplicant and one who fasts.

Supplicators, the guide of every supplicant and faster

حبيب إله العالمين حقيقة ال

حبيب إله العالمين حقيقة ال

حقائق شمس الأنبياء الأعاظم

حقائق شمس الأنبياء الأعاظم

Beloved of the God of the worlds, reality of

The beloved of the Lord of the worlds, the essence of

realities, sun of the greatest prophets.

Realities, the sun of the greatest prophets

له الموكب الأعلى لدى الحشرة اللقا

له الموكب الأعلى لدى الحشرة اللقا

له العلم المرفوع من قبل آدم

له العلم المرفوع من قبل آدم

His is the loftiest procession at the gathering and encounter;

For him is the highest procession on the Day of Gathering

his is the banner raised before Adam.

For him is the elevated knowledge since before Adam

له الدولة العظمى له الرفرف الذي

له الدولة العظمى له الرفرف الذي

تسامى على العليا بأعلى الدعائم

تسامى على العليا بأعلى الدعائم

His is the supreme dominion; his is the canopy that

For him is the great state, for him is the fluttering banner

rose above the heights on the loftiest supports.

That towered over the heights with the strongest pillars

له الهيكل المكنوز علماً وحكمةً

له الهيكل المكنوز علماً وحكمةً

بحكمة علم من حكيم وعالم

بحكمة علم من حكيم وعالم

His is the form, a treasury of knowledge and wisdom,

For him is the treasured temple of knowledge and wisdom

with the wisdom of knowledge from one wise and knowing.

With the wisdom of a learned and knowledgeable scholar

تجلت له أسرار كل خفيةٍ

تجلت له أسرار كل خفيةٍ

فحل معانيها بغير مزاحم

فحل معانيها بغير مزاحم

The secrets of every hidden thing were unveiled to him,

The secrets of everything hidden were revealed to him

so he unraveled their meanings with none to rival him.

So he solved their meanings without a challenger

بديع وفهم جل عن درك فاهم

بديع وفهم جل عن درك فاهم

He interpreted the Tablet's cipher in beautiful speech,

And translated the symbolism of the Tablet eloquently

wondrous, and with understanding beyond any thinker's grasp.

With understanding beyond the grasp of any understanding one

وأبدع نشر الطي عن كل مغلق

وأبدع نشر الطي عن كل مغلق

وأعلى ذرى الحسنى بأقوى العزائم

وأعلى ذرى الحسنى بأقوى العزائم

He wondrously unfolded what was folded within every sealed thing,

And uniquely spread open everything ambiguous

and raised the peaks of excellence with the mightiest resolves.

And raised the highest descendants with the strongest resolve

معاليه لا تحصي وأواع فضله

معاليه لا تحصي وأواع فضله

مطرزة من مجده بالمكارم

مطرزة من مجده بالمكارم

His lofty merits cannot be counted, and the kinds of his bounty

His glories cannot be counted and types of his virtues

are embroidered with noble virtues from his glory.

Are embroidered with his glory and generosity

هو البحر بحر العلم والدين والتقى

هو البحر بحر العلم والدين والتقى

وبحر لمعاني والهدى المراحم

وبحر لمعاني والهدى المراحم

He is the sea, the sea of knowledge, religion, and piety,

He is the ocean, the ocean of knowledge, religion and piety

and a sea of meanings, guidance, and mercies.

And the ocean of meanings, guidance and mercy

مظاهره العليا وأوصاف ذاته

مظاهره العليا وأوصاف ذاته

تسامت عن التعريف في شعر ناظم

تسامت عن التعريف في شعر ناظم

His sublime manifestations and the attributes of his being

His sublime qualities and attributes of his essence

have risen beyond description in a poet's verse.

Transcended definition in the poetry of any composer

بطرفة عين منه يظفر بالرجا

بطرفة عين منه يظفر بالرجا

ويكفي به السكين شر المظالم

ويكفي به السكين شر المظالم

At a blink of his eye, one gains what one hopes for,

With a glance from him, one attains wishes

and through him the needy are spared the evil of injustices.

And it suffices to protect against the evils of oppressors

ويعطي به المحتاج ما كان يرتجي

ويعطي به المحتاج ما كان يرتجي

ويحمي به من غاشمٍ ومخاصم

ويحمي به من غاشمٍ ومخاصم

Through him the needy are granted what they hoped for,

And gives the needy what he wished for

and through him are protected from tyrants and adversaries.

And protects with it from an aggressor and adversary

إليه انتهت آمال كل مؤمل

إليه انتهت آمال كل مؤمل

وفي بابه تفريج كل العظائم

وفي بابه تفريج كل العظائم

To him the hopes of every hopeful soul have converged,

To him concluded hopes of every hopeful one

and at his door lies relief from every great affliction.

And in his door relief of all great things

نعم هو سلطان لبرايا وإنه

نعم هو سلطان لبرايا وإنه

لجحفل رسل اللَه أشرف خاتم

لجحفل رسل اللَه أشرف خاتم

Yes, he is sovereign over creatures, and indeed he is

Yes, he is the sultan of creation, and he

the noblest seal of the host of God's messengers.

Is the greatest of Allah's messengers, the noble seal

ومولى أساتيذ الوجود وتاجهم

ومولى أساتيذ الوجود وتاجهم

وأعظمهم من كل ماس وقادم

وأعظمهم من كل ماس وقادم

And master of the masters of existence and their crown,

And master of the teachers of existence, their crown

and greatest among them, of all who have passed and all to come.

And greatest of them from every past and future one

أناديه مجروح الفؤاد وليس لي

أناديه مجروح الفؤاد وليس لي

سواه وحالي حال عاص ونادم

سواه وحالي حال عاص ونادم

I call to him, wounded at heart, and I have none

I call unto him, wounded at heart, and I have

but him; my state is that of a sinner filled with remorse.

No one but him, while my state is that of disobedient and regretful

ووجهي قد سودته من خطيئتي

ووجهي قد سودته من خطيئتي

ودفتر أعمالي دجا بالجرائم

ودفتر أعمالي دجا بالجرائم

And I have blackened my face through my sin,

My face has been blackened by my sin

and the ledger of my deeds has darkened with crimes.

And the record of my deeds darkened with crimes

وحالي معنى شتته مصائبي

وحالي معنى شتته مصائبي

وأمضيت عمري بين باك وهائم

وأمضيت عمري بين باك وهائم

My state is tormented, shattered by my calamities,

And my state is the meaning of its scattering afflictions

and I have spent my life between weeping and bewildered wandering.

And I spent my life between crying and confused

ومزق شملي جيش ذنبي وذلتي

ومزق شملي جيش ذنبي وذلتي

وضاعت بنفسي من همومي عزائمي

وضاعت بنفسي من همومي عزائمي

And the army of my sin and abasement tore my unity apart,

And the army of my sins tore apart my unity, and my humility

and my resolves were lost within my soul through my worries.

Made me lose the resolve of my soul from its worries

وقد لدت في أعتاب آل محمد

وقد لدت في أعتاب آل محمد

حمى كل مسكين محب وخادم

حمى كل مسكين محب وخادم

And I have sought refuge at the thresholds of Muhammad's family,

And I gave birth in the thresholds of the family of Muhammad

a sanctuary for every needy lover and servant.

To the zeal of every loving and loyal servant

وأني به أحسنت ظني وبحره

وأني به أحسنت ظني وبحره

بساحله العالي حصول المغانم

بساحله العالي حصول المغانم

And I have held good hopes of him; and his sea—

And that through it I thought good and in his ocean

on its lofty shore the spoils are won.

On its sublime coast is attainment of booties

دخيل على عليا رحاب جنابه

دخيل على عليا رحاب جنابه

وقد محيت مني رسوم المعالم

وقد محيت مني رسوم المعالم

I am a seeker of sanctuary in the loftiest courts of his presence,

A guest upon the high thresholds of his side

and the traces of distinguishing marks have been erased from me.

After the features of landmarks were erased from me

أومل منه النجح والجاه والرضى

أومل منه النجح والجاه والرضى

وحسن المبادي مثل وحسن الخواتم

وحسن المبادي مثل وحسن الخواتم

I hope for success, standing, and approval from him,

I hope for success, glory, approval and good

and good beginnings, as well as good endings.

Beginnings from him, like good endings

وأسأله عطفاً على حالتي التي

وأسأله عطفاً على حالتي التي

لها مقلتي سالت كسيل الغمائم

لها مقلتي سالت كسيل الغمائم

And I ask him for compassion upon my condition, for which

And I ask him for kindness upon my state

my eye has streamed like a torrent from the clouds.

For which my eyelids poured like pouring of rain

فحاشاه أن يرضى بردي وبابه

فحاشاه أن يرضى بردي وبابه

مناخ رحال الأكرمين الأفاخم

مناخ رحال الأكرمين الأفاخم

So far be it from him to consent to turning me away, while his door

Far from him to accept my rejection, and his door

is the halting place for the saddles of the noblest and most illustrious.

Is the destination of the steps of the noblest and most generous

عليه صلوة اللَه والآل كلهم

عليه صلوة اللَه والآل كلهم

وأصحابه أسد الشرى في الملاحم

وأصحابه أسد الشرى في الملاحم

May God's blessing be upon him, and upon all his family,

Upon him, the prayers of Allah and all his family

and his companions, the lions of al-Sharā in great battles.

And his companions, the lions of domains in battlefields
