بآه النوى والبين عن لحظ لاحظ

بآه النوى والبين عن لحظ لاحظ

I see my body, through its frailty, has faded from sight,

I saw my frail body hiding from me,

Through sighs of distance and separation, beyond a beholder's gaze.

oh, my desire parted from the beloved's gaze.

فلم تسكن الآلام مني بمؤنس

فلم تسكن الآلام مني بمؤنس

ومسل ولم بقلع بها وعظ واعظ

ومسل ولم بقلع بها وعظ واعظ

So my pains were not soothed by a comforting companion,

So pains did not cease with a companion's condolence,

Nor a consoler; nor did a preacher's admonition uproot them.

nor ceased by the preaching of a preacher's sermon.

I sought refuge with the Benevolent, the Generous; indeed, I

She came to the generous shore while I

Sought refuge with a Lord of boundless bounty, a Protector.

sought the refuge of the Lord, bountiful and watchful.
