I saw you in the days of friendship violating
your word and pledge through your own poor judgment.
An opinion of yours, your word and promise
تركناكwe left you تركthe leaving of الطيبينgood people فانهمfor they
تركناك ترك الطيبين فانهم
اذاwhen تركواthey part ماnot خالفواthey violate سنةthe custom of الودaffection
اذا تركوا ما خالفوا سنة الود
We left you as good people do, for they,
We left you, leaving as the virtuous do
when they part, do not violate the ways of affection.
For when the virtuous part ways, they don't oppose affection's way
