لآبائه النذل الجحود رجاء
He has basely betrayed a blessing for which there had been
The ungrateful betrayed a favor undeserving;
No hope for his forefathers—the vile ingrate.
Ingratitude and meanness were not his fathers' way.

وقد بطمس الخفاش صاح ضياء
I marveled at him—a traitor who betrayed himself.
I wonder at one who betrays himself,
And light has cried out for the bat to be blotted out.
As the bat dims the lamp's bright ray.

We hope for loyalty from one who grew up in baseness,
Loyalty we expect from one nurtured in baseness,
Yet one who imitates women has no loyalty.
Not from one who emulates women in his way.
