Sol 6.1

  1. بعزم امير المؤمنين ابي بكر

    لقد خفقت للدين الوية النصر

    Through the resolve of the Commander of the Faithful, Abu Bakr,

    the banners of victory indeed fluttered for the faith.

  2. وعز به الاسلام والشرع وانبرت

    به الملة البيضاء شامخة القدر

    Through him Islam and sacred law grew mighty, and there arose

    through him the pure white faith, lofty in rank.

  3. حبيبي رسول الله صديقه الذي

    طوى حبه في حالي العسر واليسر

    The friend of my beloved, God's Messenger, was he who

    harbored love for him in hardship and ease.

  4. وهام به في مذهب الصدق موقنا

    به قبل ان تبدو الشؤن من الخدر

    He was enraptured by him on the path of truth, believing

    in him before affairs emerged from behind the curtain.

  5. واخلصه ودا متينا مؤيدا

    بنور الهي له ضاء في السر

    He gave him sincere, steadfast love, sustained

    by a divine light that shone for him in secret.

  6. وقام له سيفا على كل جاحد

    واعرض عن زيد هناك وعن عمرو

    He stood as a sword for him against every denier,

    and turned away there from Zayd and from Amr.

  7. وحقق بالله الكريم ظنونه

    وعاش بحكم الصدق منشرح الصدر

    Through God, the Generous, he realized his hopes,

    and lived by truth's rule, with his heart at ease.

  8. جلته يد المختار بدرا تلألأت

    شوارقه بالعلم والحلم والذكر

    The Chosen One's hand burnished him into a full moon, gleaming

    with rays of knowledge, forbearance, and remembrance.

  9. وقد ابرزته من خزانة سرها

    صقيلا فاعلى دعمة الامر بالامر

    It had brought him forth from the treasury of its mystery,

    polished; then, by command, he raised the pillar of the cause.

  10. وكان رفيق الغار للطهر وحده

    ولله كم في خلوة الغار من سر

    He alone was the Pure One's companion in the cave;

    and, by God, how many mysteries lay in the cave's seclusion!

  11. رأى في اسارى بدر اذ ذاك رأيه

    فوافق حكم النص رأي ابي بكر

    He formed his judgment on Badr's captives at that time,

    and the text's ruling accorded with Abu Bakr's view.

  12. اجل امرىءٍ بعد النبيين يرتجى

    وسيلته للامن من نوب الدهر

    The noblest man after the prophets; hope is placed

    in his intercession for safety from the calamities of time.

  13. واول من وفى بعهد نبيه

    كبيرا اذ الاقوام في ظلم الكفر

    And the first to be true to his Prophet's covenant,

    as an adult, while the peoples lay in unbelief's darkness.

  14. وعضده صدقا بمجموع ماله

    وراح ولم يعبأ بطارقة الفقر

    He sincerely supported him with all his wealth,

    and went on, heedless of poverty's visitation.

  15. وصار له في السر والجهر ناصرا

    كذا شيمة الصديق في السر والجهر

    He became his supporter in secret and in public:

    such was al-Siddiq's character, in secret and in public.

  16. وعاش له الفا وقد راح راضيا

    الى الله عنه والوجود بذا يدري

    He lived as his intimate companion; the Prophet departed, pleased

    with him, to God; all existence knows this.

  17. وام بامر المصطفى الناس وهو قد

    رأه وقد ناداه من داخل الستر

    He led the people in prayer at the Chosen One's command, while the latter had

    seen him and called to him from behind the curtain.

  18. ولما قضى المختار قام مقامه

    واحكم امر الدين في المدن والقفر

    When the Chosen One passed away, he took his place,

    and firmly ordered the faith's affairs in towns and wilderness.

  19. ولولاه شل العزم وانقصم الرجا

    وفل نظام الحكم في النهي والامر

    Without him, resolve would have been paralyzed and hope shattered,

    and the order of governance broken, in prohibition and command.

  20. وسيّر بالايقان جيش اسامة

    فعاد باذن الله بالنصر والخير

    With certainty he dispatched Usama's army,

    and it returned, by God's leave, with victory and good.

  21. وجرع اهل الردة الموت فانطووا

    بصولة سيف الله في وهدة القهر

    He made the apostates drink death, and they sank

    under the Sword of God's onslaught, into the pit of subjugation.

  22. وسير للشام المؤيد خالدا

    فلاحت شروق الفتح في ذلك القطر

    He sent the divinely aided Khalid to al-Sham,

    and the sunrise of conquest shone in that land.

  23. وراح بامراط القناعة زاهداً

    كاحمد افنى العمر في ذلك الاثر

    He went clad in contentment's mantles, an ascetic,

    like Ahmad, spending his life following that path.

  24. تخلص من قيد الوجودات عاملاً

    بسنة طه او بما نص في الذكر

    He freed himself from the fetters of created things, acting

    by Taha's way, or by what is prescribed in the Remembrance.

  25. الا يا امام الدين ندبة عاجز

    يناديك والاحشاءُ منه على جمر

    Hear, O imam of the faith, the plea of a helpless man

    calling to you, his innards upon burning coals.

  26. وانك للمختار خير خليفة

    تألق في برج الخلافة كالبدر

    Indeed, you are the Chosen One's finest successor,

    who shone in the caliphate's constellation like the full moon.

  27. بجاهك عند الله ادرك قطيعتي

    فانى اسير الذنب والاثم والوزر

    By your standing with God, come to my aid in my estrangement,

    for I am captive to sin, wrongdoing, and the burden of guilt.

  28. وصلنى بغوث استنير بنوره

    اذا صرت وحدي يوم ادفن في قبري

    Join me to a helper, by whose light I may be illumined

    when I am alone, on the day I am buried in my grave.

  29. وراع بعين العطف ضعفي لاجتلي

    معاني رسول الله منك مدى عمري

    Regard my weakness with an eye of compassion, that I may behold

    the inner meanings of God's Messenger through you throughout my life.

  30. ودم مظهر الرضوان والفضل والثنا

    ومعدن طور المصطفى الطيب الطهر

    Remain a manifestation of divine pleasure, grace, and praise,

    and the wellspring of the character of the Chosen One, the good and pure.

  31. عليه صلاة الله والآل كلهم

    واصحابه اهل الهدى الانجم الزهر

    God's blessings be upon him and all his family,

    and his companions, the people of guidance, the radiant stars.
