The secret of guidance in Ibn al-Rifa‘i

is an inheritance from the Guide of Tihamah.

انعم به من سيد جيد

انعم به من سيد جيد

ساد صنوف النشر والطي

ساد صنوف النشر والطي

What an excellent, worthy master he is!

He held sway over the forms of unfolding and folding.

وقد علا في زمر الاوليا

وقد علا في زمر الاوليا

عن كل شرقي وغربي

عن كل شرقي وغربي

And among the ranks of saints he rose

above every easterner and westerner.

مد له شمس الهدى جده

مد له شمس الهدى جده

يمينه الفياض بالري

يمينه الفياض بالري

The sun of guidance, his forefather, extended to him

his right hand, overflowing with refreshment.

بي صدور مثل جيليهم

بي صدور مثل جيليهم

والمنبجي النير الزي

والمنبجي النير الزي

[Wording unclear:] Through me, leaders such as their Jili,

and al-Manbiji, radiant in attire.

والكل عمتهم افاضاته

والكل عمتهم افاضاته

فانظر لفضل غير مخفي

فانظر لفضل غير مخفي

And his outpourings encompassed them all;

so behold an excellence not concealed.

رجال ذاك العصر لم ترتفع

رجال ذاك العصر لم ترتفع

الا بامداد الرفاعي

الا بامداد الرفاعي

The men of that age did not rise

except through al-Rifa‘i’s aid.
