ومهاةand an oryx doe ودعتنيbade me farewell ومضتand departed
ومهاة ودعتني ومضت
تقطعrending القلبthe heart بوصلby maintaining الرحمkinship
تقطع القلب بوصل الرحم
And an oryx doe bade me farewell and departed,
rending the heart by keeping the bonds of kinship.
أخذتshe took روحيmy soul وارحتand departed (reading uncertain) وارتضتand was content
أخذت روحي وارحت وارتضت
طيfolding away نفسيmy self معwith طيfolding القدمthe foot
طي نفسي مع طي القدم
She took my soul, went away, and was content
to fold away my self with the folding of the foot.
حسبيsufficient for me اللَهGod تعالىexalted is He هكذاthus
حسبي اللَه تعالى هكذا
حالةthe state المخلصof the sincere one راعيkeeper of الذممcovenants
حالة المخلص راعي الذمم
God Most High suffices me; such
is the state of the sincere one, the keeper of covenants.
