At the door of Sayyid al-Mahdi, my shaykh,
To the door of Sayyid al-Mahdi, my shaykh,
I sought refuge with the sorrowing lover’s lament.
I sought refuge with the lament of a sorrowful lover.
واجريتand I caused to flow المدامعthe tears مستجيراseeking protection
واوقرتand I burdened النواحيthe surroundings بالنحيبwith sobbing
I set my tears flowing, seeking protection,
And I let my tears flow, seeking protection,
And filled the surrounding air with sobs.
And burdened the surroundings with sobbing.

And I am, as Time itself beholds me,
And I—as time beholds me—
A stranger who sought shelter with the wondrous Ghawth.
Am a stranger who sought refuge with the wondrous Helper.

I know with certainty that this calamity will be erased,
And I have become certain that calamity will be erased,
And every flame that has risen high will die.
And whatever flame has risen will die down.

Al-Hadi’s charge will burst forth before all eyes,
And the Guide's onslaught will appear in plain sight,
Plain to those near and to strangers alike.
So it will be seen by kinsman and stranger alike.

The renegade will be shamed, the aggressor humbled,
And the renegade will be disgraced, and the transgressor humbled,
And God will bring the relief that is near.
And God will bring imminent relief.
