طعنت فؤادي برمح القوام

وقديت قلبي بسيف المقل

You have pierced my heart with the spear of the waist

And slaughtered my heart with the sword of the eyes

وأحرقت لبي بجمر الخدود

وأبقيتني تحت طول الأمل

And burned my heart with the embers of the cheeks

And kept me alive with never ending hope
