ايعذر من لمقي الزمام الى الدينا

ايعذر من لمقي الزمام الى الدينا

وما هي الا في الحقيقة كالرؤيا

وما هي الا في الحقيقة كالرؤيا

Can one who hands the reins over to this world be excused?

What excuse for one who holds the reins of faith

And in truth it is only like a dream.

Yet in truth it's like a dream that fades away

تدرج هداك الله ان كنت عاقلا

تدرج هداك الله ان كنت عاقلا

حكيما من الدنيا الى الرتبة العليا

حكيما من الدنيا الى الرتبة العليا

Rise by degrees—may God guide you—if you are sensible,

May God guide you if you're wise

And wise, from this world to the highest station.

To rise above the worldly state some day

وسر سير من خلوا هواهم وراءهم

وسر سير من خلوا هواهم وراءهم

وقد تبعوا النص الالهي والوحيا

وقد تبعوا النص الالهي والوحيا

And walk as those did who left their desires behind them,

Walk the path of those who left desire behind

And indeed followed the divine text and revelation.

And followed holy scripture as their way

سروا بطريق المصطفى وبنوره

سروا بطريق المصطفى وبنوره

ازالوا دجى الاوهام والشك والغيا

ازالوا دجى الاوهام والشك والغيا

They walked the path of al-Mustafa, and by his light

They walked the Prophet's path, his light their guide

They dispelled the darkness of illusions, doubt, and error.

Dispelling doubt and ignorance's gray

فيا حي لا تغفل فانك ميت

فيا حي لا تغفل فانك ميت

ستبعث مسؤلا بعيد البلى حيا

ستبعث مسؤلا بعيد البلى حيا

So, O living one, do not be heedless, for you are mortal.

O living soul, do not neglect, for you will die

You will be raised alive shortly after decay, to be questioned.

And on that distant day, you will be called to testify
