By God, O chanter guiding the riders, have there come by night

O guide of travelers, I implore you -

the company’s led mounts, recently, to our valley?

Have you passed by the tents of my people in our valley?

وهل بعيد عناء مسها نزلت

وهل بعيد عناء مسها نزلت

امينة تغنم المرعى بوادينا

امينة تغنم المرعى بوادينا

And did they, shortly after hardship touched them, alight

And has the beloved camped not far from our homes?

safe, enjoying the pasture in our valley?

Grazing her livestock in our meadows?

وهل وأنت مثير عجها نظرت

وهل وأنت مثير عجها نظرت

عيونها بعد طول السير متكينا

عيونها بعد طول السير متكينا

And, while you stirred up their dust, did

As you rouse the camels, have you noticed

their eyes behold our lodge after the long journey?

Her eyes after the long journey, settled comfortably?

ان انت وافيتها والصبح منبلج

ان انت وافيتها والصبح منبلج

وشمت سينائها اذ تكشف السينا

وشمت سينائها اذ تكشف السينا

If you reach it while dawn is breaking,

If you have reached her at dawn’s first light

and glimpse its Sinai as Sinai is unveiled,

And smelled the fragrance of her encampment as it stirs awake,

قبل تراب رحاب الغوث احمد من

قبل تراب رحاب الغوث احمد من

حباه مولاه اجلالا وتمكينا

حباه مولاه اجلالا وتمكينا

kiss the dust of the precincts of the Succor, Ahmad, whom

Before the dust raised by the hooves of Ahmed’s cavalry,

his Lord endowed with honor and power.

Blessed by his Lord with glory and triumph,

وادع الاله بذاك الباب منكسرا

وادع الاله بذاك الباب منكسرا

فقد تقول به الاملاك آمينا

فقد تقول به الاملاك آمينا

And pray to God at that gate, humbled,

Pray to God humbly at that door -

for there the angels may say ‘Amen.’

The angels themselves may answer, “Amen.”

واذكر شؤنك وابشر فهي ناجحة

واذكر شؤنك وابشر فهي ناجحة

وفي دعائك لا تنس المحبينا

وفي دعائك لا تنس المحبينا

And mention your affairs and rejoice, for they will succeed;

Remember your task, take heart, for success is near,

and in your prayer do not forget those who love.

And in your prayers, do not forget those who love.
