حسن من اليمن القصية جاء
Praise be to God, generous in His bounty.
Hasan came from faraway Yemen.
وافاhe arrived وانواعand kinds القبولwelcome تحفهsurround him
وافا وانواع القبول تحفه
ياO ربLord لاnot احصيI count عليكto You ثناءpraise
يا رب لا احصي عليك ثناء
He arrived, and every kind of welcome surrounds him.
O Lord, I cannot count the praises due to You.
بقدومهwith his arrival جاءcame البشيرthe bearer of glad tidings وانهand indeed he
بقدومه جاء البشير وانه
اهداhe bestowed لقلبيupon my heart فرحةjoy وضياءand light
اهدا لقلبي فرحة وضياء
With his arrival came the bearer of glad tidings, and indeed he
Bestowed joy and light upon my heart.
وطفقتand I began ارفلI walk exultantly بالمسرةin joy منشداreciting
وطفقت ارفل بالمسرة منشدا
بيتاa verse افاضpoured الىinto الفؤادthe heart صفاءserenity
بيتا افاض الى الفؤاد صفاء
And I began to walk exultantly in joy, reciting
A verse that poured serenity into the heart:
ياO عينeye يعقوبJacob الحزينthe grieving بيوسفthrough Joseph
يا عين يعقوب الحزين بيوسف
قريbe cooled and comforted وطيبيand be glad بكرةin the morning ومساءand in the evening
قري وطيبي بكرة ومساء
O eye of grieving Jacob, through Joseph,
Be cooled and gladdened, morning and evening.
