At a gate where the angels have set down their baggage,
At his door where angels have set down their burdens,
I set down my baggage with every form of submission.
I set down my burdens in all humility.

Yes, it is the gate of the Chosen One, master of creation.
Yes, it is the door of Mustafa, the master of all creation,
And he suffices me as a patron who tends to my affairs.
My allegiance to him sustains me.

Indeed, my endurance has failed, and calamities have come
I am at my wit’s end, calamities besiege me
Upon me, and distress has blocked my wide field of action.
And adversities constrict the broad horizons before me.

And there is none for one like me—a sinner who falls short,
A sinner like me, full of wrongs and shortcomings,
Abounding in sins, heedless amid passing concerns—
With abundant sins and troubling flaws,

But Muhammad, crown of the messengers' heads,
Has no recourse but to seek the sublime crown,
The messenger of divine favor, the great bearer of burdens.
Muhammad, the Messenger of joy, the bearer of burdens.

I commune with him, seeking salvation from him; and indeed I
I confide in him, hoping for success through him, though
Have stretched out my pleading palms toward his exalted station.
I spread before his lofty threshold my beseeching hands.

And I sought refuge in his lofty shade; he is, plainly,
I take comfort in his noble shadow, an unfailing refuge,
Our greatest means of approach to the Supremely Exalted.
Our greatest means to rise towards the most high.

May Allah bless him as long as a star shines
At a constellation's station, high among the stations;
In the mansions of the towering celestial spheres,

And upon his family, his noble companions, and their families,
And his noble family and companions - the best of companions,
For they are the best companions and the noblest family;
And his progeny - the most honoured lineage.

And upon their followers, whenever, in my utter abasement, I say:
And their followers - never have I exaggerated my lowliness -
I set down my baggage with every form of submission.
I set down my burdens in all humility.
