He revived the Path and al-Sayyad’s ritual observance—
I revive the road and the fisherman's adventure
A valley of noble deeds, pure in ancestry:
The valley of virtues, pure ancestors
حسنHasan الرضاal-Rida قمرmoon of العناياتprovidential favors الذيwho
حسن الرضا قمر العنايات الذي
للمجدfor glory بينamid حماهhis sanctuary اخصبthe most fertile واديvalley
للمجد بين حماه اخصب وادي
Hasan al-Rida, moon of providential favors, who
Good consent, the moon of care who
Has within his sanctuary glory’s most fertile valley.
For glory between the most fertile valley protectors
للهfor God كمhow many منof ليلةa night قطعhe traversed الدجاthe darkness
لله كم من ليلة قطع الدجا
فيهاduring it بركبwith the caravan of الذكرremembrance of God والاورادand devotional litanies
فيها بركب الذكر والاوراد
For God—how many a night he traversed the darkness,
Oh God, how many nights have passed
In it, with the caravan of remembrance and litanies.
In which the pilgrimage of remembrance and prayer cut through
واسالand made flow فيfor اللهGod الدموعthe tears بهمةwith spiritual resolve
واسال في الله الدموع بهمة
تعلوrise عزائمهاits determinations عنbeyond الاضدادthe opposites
تعلو عزائمها عن الاضداد
And made tears flow for God, with a resolve
And I ask with God tears of determination
Whose determinations rise beyond opposites.
That rise above contradictions
اخذتit drew منfrom التوحيدdivine oneness حكماa judgment جازماdecisive
اخذت من التوحيد حكما جازما
فتخلصتand thus freed itself منfrom رؤيةseeing الاندادrivals to God
فتخلصت من رؤية الانداد
It drew from divine oneness a decisive judgment,
I took from Tawhid a decisive wisdom
And thus freed itself from seeing rivals to God.
So I got rid of seeing idols
ذخريmy treasure ابوAbu, father of البركاتal-Barakat, blessings فياضoverflowing with الندىbounty
ذخري ابو البركات فياض الندى
علمbanner of الطريقةthe spiritual Path كوكبstar of الاسيادthe masters
علم الطريقة كوكب الاسياد
My treasure, Abu al-Barakat, overflowing with bounty,
My supply, Abu Al-Barkat, the overflowing dew
The banner of the Path, the star of the masters,
The master star of the way of knowledge
ذوpossessor of المشهدthe shrine المغموسsteeped بالنوزin light (probable correction of al-nuz) الذيwho
ذو المشهد المغموس بالنوز الذي
هطلتrained down عليهupon him منfrom البتولal-Batul, the chaste one اياديfavors
هطلت عليه من البتول ايادي
He of the shrine steeped in light [probable reading], upon whom
The one with the shrine immersed in buds that
Favors from al-Batul rained down.
Rained down on him the hands of the virgin
ألاحمديal-Ahmadi الخالديal-Khalidi المرتجىthe one hoped for
ألاحمدي الخالدي المرتجى
لدفاعfor repelling صائلةthe onslaught of الزمانtime العاديhostile
لدفاع صائلة الزمان العادي
Al-Ahmadi, al-Khalidi, in whom hope is placed
Oh eternal Ahmadi, the desired
To repel the onslaught of hostile time.
To defend the horses of the normal times
مولايmy master ذوpossessor of القلبthe heart الكبيرgreat المنتقىthe chosen one
مولاي ذو القلب الكبير المنتقى
منfrom among خلصthe purest النجباءthe noble ones والافرادand the peerless ones
من خلص النجباء والافراد
My master, great of heart, chosen
My Master, the chosen one of the distinguished
From the purest of the noble and the peerless.
From the hearts of nobles and individuals
نشرhe spread الطريقةthe spiritual Path فيin البلادthe lands فاشرقتand so it shone
نشر الطريقة في البلاد فاشرقت
بمفاوزin the wildernesses of الاغوارthe lowlands والانجادand the highlands
بمفاوز الاغوار والانجاد
He spread the Path through the lands, and it shone
He spread the way in the countries so it shone
In the wildernesses of lowlands and highlands.
With the glories of the plains and peaks
مجدa glory لقدindeed نطحit butted الكواكبthe stars رفعةin loftiness
مجد لقد نطح الكواكب رفعة
بأبيthrough Abu, father of العريجاal-ʿUrayja وابنةand the daughter of الصيادal-Sayyad
بأبي العريجا وابنة الصياد
A glory that has indeed butted the stars in its loftiness,
Glory, he charged the stars with the loftiness
Through Abu al-ʿUrayja and the daughter of al-Sayyad.
Of my Araija and the fisherman's daughter
ومفاخرand glories تتلىare recited فيروىand so is transmitted نصهاtheir text
ومفاخر تتلى فيروى نصها
عنon the authority of باقرBaqir, cleaver of الاسرارthe secrets والسجادand al-Sajjad, the oft-prostrating one
عن باقر الاسرار والسجاد
And glories recited, whose text is then transmitted
And pride is recited so its text is conveyed
On the authority of Baqir, cleaver of secrets, and al-Sajjad.
From the confidential and Sajjad
سندa chain of transmission تسلسلهlinks it in succession السيادةnobility بالعلىin loftiness
سند تسلسله السيادة بالعلى
والعزand honor للطهرto the pure one الرسولthe Messenger الهاديthe guide
والعز للطهر الرسول الهادي
A chain of transmission that nobility links, in loftiness
The support of the succession of sovereignty is by the Most High
And honor, to the pure Messenger, the guide.
And glory to the pure, guiding Prophet
صلىmay He bestow blessings عليهupon him اللهGod ماwhenever انبلجparts الدجاthe darkness
صلى عليه الله ما انبلج الدجا
بضياءwith the light of صبحdawn لامعgleaming وقادblazing
بضياء صبح لامع وقاد
May God bless him whenever the darkness parts
May God bless him as long as the night shone
With the light of a gleaming, blazing dawn,
With the bright light of a radiant morning
والآلand the family والاصحابand the companions ساداتmasters of الورىhumankind
والآل والاصحاب سادات الورى
ماwhenever عجcries aloud ركبa caravan اوor ترنمsings melodiously حاديa camel-driver
ما عج ركب او ترنم حادي
And his family and companions, masters of humankind,
And his family and companions, the masters of mankind
Whenever a caravan cries aloud or a camel-driver sings.
As long as the ride rang or guide chanted
