Eternal is His majesty,

Then its meaning became clear.

أن حققت إلا هو

There is nothing in all creation,

There is no one in the wilderness,

If you truly discern, but He.

If it was fulfilled except Him,

سر عظيم الطرز

سر عظيم الطرز

لكن خفى الرمز

لكن خفى الرمز

A mystery of magnificent design,

The secret of the great composition,

But the symbol is hidden.

But the symbol was hidden,

وفي مقام العز

وفي مقام العز

اللَه ما أجلاه

اللَه ما أجلاه

And in the station of glory—

And in the position of glory,

God! How manifest He is!

God, how glorious He made it,

أياته قد جلت

أياته قد جلت

معنى عليه دلت

معنى عليه دلت

His signs have revealed

Its verses have appeared,

A meaning to which they pointed,

Meaning it indicated,

وبالتجلي دلت

وبالتجلي دلت

إلى حمى علياه

إلى حمى علياه

And through manifestation they guided

And with the manifestation it indicated,

To the sanctuary of His heights.

To the protection of the Most High,

فاخلع رسوم اسماً

فاخلع رسوم اسماً

وانح المقام الأسما

وانح المقام الأسما

So cast off a name's outward forms,

So take off the forms of name,

And seek the highest station.

And turn to the Most High position,

واقرأ حروف الاسما

واقرأ حروف الاسما

لأنها أسماه

لأنها أسماه

And read the letters of the Names,

And read the letters of the names,

For they are His Names.

Because they are His names,

واغنم طريق الوصل

واغنم طريق الوصل

إلى رحاب الفضل

إلى رحاب الفضل

And seize the path of union

And take the path of connection,

To the spacious courts of grace.

To the vastness of virtue,

واقطع حبال الكل

واقطع حبال الكل

وانف السوى تلقاه

وانف السوى تلقاه

And sever the cords of all things,

And cut the ropes of all,

And banish all else; you will meet Him.

And turn away from all but Him,

واقبل بحسن السير

واقبل بحسن السير

إلى مناخ الخير

إلى مناخ الخير

And approach with a goodly tread,

And go with good conduct,

To the encampment of goodness.

To the place of goodness,

واعلم فناء الغير

واعلم فناء الغير

لا غير جل اللَه

لا غير جل اللَه

And know the annihilation of all else:

And know the extinction of others,

There is no other—exalted is God!

None but God the Exalted,

واشهد جمال القرب

واشهد جمال القرب

من طورسينا الوهب

من طورسينا الوهب

And witness the beauty of nearness

And witness the beauty of nearness,

From the Mount Sinai of bestowal.

From Mount Sinai the gift,

واجعل لسان القلب

واجعل لسان القلب

يقول دوماً يا هو

يقول دوماً يا هو

And make the heart's tongue

And make the tongue of the heart,

Say always, 'O He!'

Always say, O He,

وانزل بشطحا الفكر

وانزل بشطحا الفكر

واشرب كؤس الشكر

واشرب كؤس الشكر

And alight in thought's ecstatic outpouring,

And come down with the ecstasy of thought,

And drink the cups of gratitude.

And drink the cup of gratitude,

واكرع شراب الذكر

واكرع شراب الذكر

أواه ما أحلاه

أواه ما أحلاه

And quaff the draught of remembrance—

And bend to the drink of remembrance,

Ah, how sweet it is!

Oh what bliss,

والجأ بباب الباب

والجأ بباب الباب

معراج ذي الألباب

معراج ذي الألباب

And seek refuge at the gate of the gate,

And take refuge in the door of the door,

The ladder for the discerning:

The ascension of the wise,
