A free man knows the worth of kindness, and takes pride in it;
The noble man may proudly recognize the worth of kindness.
The knave, in his baseness, denies every good turn.
And the deceitful man, out of baseness, denies every good turn.

The noble-hearted befriends whoever extends a helping hand to him;
And the gallant man grows fond of whoever offers him a helping hand.
But in a knave, such conduct is a disposition rarely known.
And that is a disposition unfamiliar to the deceitful man.
