Wretched is the beloved, fickle and treacherous.
How unworthy a lover is one who is fickle
He showed coldness and acted spitefully toward the lover.
Who shows nothing but indifference and takes advantage of devotion

نقض العهود وخان ايام الرضا
He glides like a chameleon; if you anger him,
He flows like murky water when angered
he breaks the pledges and betrays the days of contentment.
Breaking vows and betraying the days of acceptance

يجري على زور ويذكر ما مضى
And wretched indeed is one who, if you do not agree with his aim,
How wretched is he who, if his desires are not met
resorts to falsehood and brings up the past.
Acts deceitfully and recalls what is past

اواه لو عادوا وداجيهم اضا
The noble have died, and their days have passed.
The generous ones are dead, their days are gone
Alas, if only they returned and their darkness grew bright!
Oh, if only they could return to confront their calumniators

And now we are among a people who, if opposed
And now we are a nation, if insulted
in their aims, would fill the air with their slander.
Their vile slander would fill the space
