يا امام القوم يا عالي السند
ياO رفاعيRifa‘i ياO اباAbu (father of) العرجاal-‘Arja المددaid
يا رفاعي يا ابا العرجا المدد
O leader of the people, O you of exalted spiritual lineage.
O leader of the people, O pillar of support
O Rifa‘i, O Abu al-‘Arja, grant me aid!
O Rafai, O Abu Al-Arja provide help
ياO طويلlong الباعthe reach ياO ابنson of المصطفىal-Mustafa (the Chosen One)
يا طويل الباع يا ابن المصطفى
ياO هزبرlion الآلthe Household ياO شبلcub الاسدthe lion
يا هزبر الآل يا شبل الاسد
O you of long reach, O son of al-Mustafa.
O long-armed one, O son of Mustafa
O lion of the Household, O cub of the lion.
O Hizbar of the family, O cub of the lion
لكfor you فيin التصريفthe directing of affairs سرa secret باهرdazzling
لك في التصريف سر باهر
كمhow many بهthrough it قدindeed حللuntied اللهGod العقدthe knots
كم به قد حلل الله العقد
Yours is a dazzling secret in the directing of affairs.
You have in your control a brilliant secret
How many knots God has untied through it!
With which Allah has undone many a knot
لاdo not تضيعنيlet me be lost وخذand take ليfor me بيديby my hand
لا تضيعني وخذ لي بيدي
فلكfor to you المختارthe Chosen One اعطىgave خيرthe best يدhand
فلك المختار اعطى خير يد
Do not let me be lost; take me by the hand.
Do not let me down, take me by the hand
For the Chosen One gave you the best of hands.
For you the Chosen one gave the best hand
وتداركنيand rescue me بغوثwith aid عاجلswift
وتداركني بغوث عاجل
والتفتand turn ليtoward me انindeed قلبيmy heart فيin نكدdistress
والتفت لي ان قلبي في نكد
And rescue me with swift aid.
And hurry to my aid with urgent help
And turn toward me, for my heart is in distress.
And turn to me if my heart is in anguish
ياO سليلscion الآلthe Household آلthe household of المرتضىal-Murtada
يا سليل الآل آل المرتضى
غيركمother than you ياO سيديmy master ماnot ليfor me احدanyone
غيركم يا سيدي ما لي احد
O scion of the Household, the household of al-Murtada.
O descendant of the family of Murtaza
Other than you, my master, I have no one.
Except you my master I have no one
وعليكمand upon you وعلىand upon آبائكمyour forefathers
وعليكم وعلى آبائكم
صلواتblessings الواحدthe One الفردthe Unique الصمدthe Self-Sufficient
صلوات الواحد الفرد الصمد
And upon you and upon your forefathers
And upon you and upon your fathers
be the blessings of the One, the Unique, the Self-Sufficient.
Be prayers of the One, the Unique, the Eternal
