  1. ماذا اقول وقد غار الحسود فلم

    يفقه واشرب معدوما بموجود

    What can I say, when the envious man grew jealous and failed

    to understand, and mingled the nonexistent with the existent?

  2. وطاش زورا فلم اعبأ بزفرته

    وقلت حسبي خلاقي ومعبودي

    And he grew reckless in falsehood, so I paid no heed to his sigh.

    And I said, 'My Creator, whom I worship, is enough for me.'

  3. فقال هاتف سر الغيب ارض وطب

    فهل رأيت سعيدا غير محسود

    Then a voice from the mystery of the unseen said, 'Be content and be of good cheer;

    for have you ever seen a happy person who was not envied?'
