ياO ملاذيmy refuge ياO ابنson عمpaternal uncle المصطفىthe Chosen One
يا ملاذي يا ابن عم المصطفى
ياO امامimam الآلthe Household ياO عاليlofty السندauthority
يا امام الآل يا عالي السند
O my refuge, O cousin of the Chosen One.
O my refuge, O cousin of Al-Mustafa
O imam of the Household, O you of lofty authority.
O Imam of the Family, O most high pillar
ثقلhas grown heavy الحملthe burden ألاcome now خذtake بيديby my hand
ثقل الحمل ألا خذ بيدي
ياO وصياappointed successor لكfor you عندwith اللهGod يدfavor
يا وصيا لك عند الله يد
The burden has grown heavy—come, take my hand.
The burden is heavy, take my hand
O appointed successor, you have favor with God.
O trustee, for you is a hand with God
وتداركنيand rescue me بغوثwith aid عاجلswift
وتداركني بغوث عاجل
فلعمريfor, by my life غيركمother than you ماnot ليfor me احدanyone
فلعمري غيركم ما لي احد
And rescue me with swift aid.
And relieve me with immediate aid
For, by my life, I have no one but you.
For by my life, I have no one but you
ياO اباfather السبطينthe two grandsons ياO حاميprotector الحمىthe sanctuary
يا ابا السبطين يا حامي الحمى
ياO طويلlong الباعreach فيin كشفdispelling الشددhardships
يا طويل الباع في كشف الشدد
O father of the two grandsons, O protector of the sanctuary.
O father of the two grandsons, O protector of sanctity
O you whose reach is long in dispelling hardships.
O long armed in warding off calamities
انتyou فيamong آلthe family الرسولthe Messenger المجتبىthe chosen
انت في آل الرسول المجتبى
شيخهمtheir elder رحبbroad الذراعthe arm المعتمدthe one relied upon
شيخهم رحب الذراع المعتمد
You are, among the chosen Messenger's family,
You are among the Prophet's chosen family
Their elder, broad of arm, the one relied upon.
Their elder, vast armed, relied upon
قدindeed ندبناكwe have called upon you لماfor what حلhas befallen بناupon us
قد ندبناك لما حل بنا
فاغثso grant aid باللهby God واصرفand ward off للنكدfor distress
فاغث بالله واصرف للنكد
We have called upon you for what has befallen us.
We called upon you for what befell us
So grant aid, by God, and ward off distress.
So aid us by God, and dispel the sorrow
والىand to اللهGod توسلseek nearness بالرضاthrough contentment
والى الله توسل بالرضا
فلكمfor how many باللهthrough God حللتyou have untied عقدknots
فلكم بالله حللت عقد
And seek nearness to God through contentment.
And beseech God through Al-Ridha
For how many knots you have untied through God!
For through God, you untie knots
ياO امامimam الاصفياthe elect والاوصياand the appointed successors
يا امام الاصفيا والاوصيا
وحمىand the sanctuary كلevery وليsaint معتقدbelieving
وحمى كل ولي معتقد
O imam of the elect and the appointed successors.
O Imam of the righteous and trustees
And sanctuary of every believing saint.
And protector of every believer
حركrouse العزمresolve ولاحظand heed ضعفناour weakness
حرك العزم ولاحظ ضعفنا
فعليناfor upon us طالhas grown long بالهمwith sorrow المددthe stretches of time
فعلينا طال بالهم المدد
Rouse your resolve, and heed our weakness.
Rouse your resolve and note our weakness
For time has dragged on for us in sorrow.
For worry has long burdened us
وعليكمand upon you كلevery آنmoment سرمداforever
وعليكم كل آن سرمدا
خيرthe finest تسليمsalutation منfrom اللهGod الصمدthe One on whom all depend
خير تسليم من الله الصمد
And upon you at every moment, forever,
And upon you forever
Be the finest salutation from God, on whom all depend.
