Tell sorrowful Jacob, I implore you:

Tell the sorrowful Jacob, I implore you,

Joseph has come from the journey of separation.

That Joseph has returned from the journey of separation.

So may his eyes shine at the sight of him,

Perhaps seeing him will make his eyes shine,

And through him may his yearning heart find comfort.

And his longing heart will be gladdened by him.
