كلفت ضنى وقد ثقلت حمولي

The sea of sorrows overwhelmed me, until

The sea of worries flooded me

I was afflicted with wasting illness, and my burdens had grown heavy.

I was burdened with poverty and my burdens grew heavy

هنالك قمت أرفل بالمعاصي

هنالك قمت أرفل بالمعاصي

ولذت بظل أعتاب الرسول

ولذت بظل أعتاب الرسول

There I rose, draped in sins,

There I rose, reveling in disobedience

And I sought refuge in the shade of the Messenger’s thresholds.

And took pleasure in the shade of the Messenger's threshold
