Ah, this lightning of al-Ubayriq has flashed!
Ah, this lightning of longing has flashed
And the love-stricken heart spoke openly of its secret.
And the hearts with passion have unabashed

بمعانيه هيم الارواحا
The gleaming lightning stirred it for a beloved
This flickering light of love
Who, through his inner qualities, enraptured souls.
With its meanings has enthralled souls afresh

ويمينا لا نسمع النصاحا
Longings for him wrestled with us, and we melted;
Our longing has melted us in its flames
And, by oath, we heed no admonishers.
And we turn a deaf ear to all advice
