مِلْ بِنا يا سعْدُ وانزِلْ بالحجُونْ

مِلْ بِنا يا سعْدُ وانزِلْ بالحجُونْ

هذه الاعْلاَم تبْدو للعُيونْ

هذه الاعْلاَم تبْدو للعُيونْ

Turn aside with us, O Saʿd, and alight at al-Ḥajūn.

Come with us O Saad, and descend to Al-Hujun

These landmarks appear before the eyes.

These flags appear to the eyes

والْتفتْ غرْبِيَّها كَيُما تَرَى

والْتفتْ غرْبِيَّها كَيُما تَرَى

نارَ مَنْ تهْواهُ بِالشّعبِ اليمينْ

نارَ مَنْ تهْواهُ بِالشّعبِ اليمينْ

And look west of them, so that you may see

And turn towards its west so you may see

The fire of the one you love in the right-hand ravine.

The fire of those who yearned with the right people

للقِرَى شُبَّتْ قديماً نارُها

للقِرَى شُبَّتْ قديماً نارُها

وهِيَ لا تُطْفى على طولِ السنينْ

وهِيَ لا تُطْفى على طولِ السنينْ

Its fire was kindled long ago for hospitality,

The fires of villages grew old long ago

And it is not quenched over the long years.

Yet they are not extinguished over the years

قَرِّب النَّفْس ولاَ تَبْخَلْ بِها

قَرِّب النَّفْس ولاَ تَبْخَلْ بِها

إِن أردْتَ الشُّرب من عَين اليقينْ

إِن أردْتَ الشُّرب من عَين اليقينْ

Offer up your soul, and do not withhold it,

Bring your soul near and do not be stingy with it

If you wish to drink from the spring of certainty.

If you want to drink from the spring of certainty

هِمْ بحَرْف العَيْنِ واعْشَق أهْلهُ

هِمْ بحَرْف العَيْنِ واعْشَق أهْلهُ

تَعْلم المعْنى مِنَ السّرِّ المصُونْ

تَعْلم المعْنى مِنَ السّرِّ المصُونْ

Be enamored of the letter ʿayn, and love its people;

Care for the people of the letter 'ain' and love them

You will learn the meaning from the guarded secret.

You will know the meaning from the guarded secret

جَرِّرْ الذَّيْلَ ولا تَلْوِ على

جَرِّرْ الذَّيْلَ ولا تَلْوِ على

ذُلِّ هذا الكَوْنِ واصْبرْ للمُجون

ذُلِّ هذا الكَوْنِ واصْبرْ للمُجون

Let your hem trail, and pay no heed to

Drag your tail and do not blame

The lowliness of this world, and bear with wantonness.

The humiliation of this universe, and be patient for the rewards
