صَحَّ عِنْدِي الْخَبَر

صَحَّ عِنْدِي الْخَبَر

وسَرَى في سِرِّي

وسَرَى في سِرِّي

The news proved true to me

The news came true for me

and flowed through my innermost being:

And spread in my secret

أنَّ عَيْنَ النَّظَر

أنَّ عَيْنَ النَّظَر

عَيْنُ عَيْنِ الْفِكْرِ

عَيْنُ عَيْنِ الْفِكْرِ

that the eye of vision

That the eye of sight

is the very eye of thought.

Is the eye of thought's eye

أغْمِضِ الطَّرْفَ تَرى

أغْمِضِ الطَّرْفَ تَرى

وتَلُوحْ أخْبارَك

وتَلُوحْ أخْبارَك

Close your eyes, and you will see,

Close your eyelid and you will see

and your tidings will come to light.

Your news becoming apparent

وافْنَا عَنْ ذَا الْوَرَى

وافْنَا عَنْ ذَا الْوَرَى

تبْدو لَكْ أسْرارَكْ

تبْدو لَكْ أسْرارَكْ

And vanish from this creation;

And turn away from this abode

your secrets will appear to you.

Your secrets become obvious to you

وبِصَقْل الْمِرَي

وبِصَقْل الْمِرَي

بِهْ يَزَل إِنْكارَكْ

بِهْ يَزَل إِنْكارَكْ

And through polishing the mirror,

And by polishing the mirror

through it, your denial will vanish.

Your denial will slip away

وتَلُوحْ لَكْ صُوَر

وتَلُوحْ لَكْ صُوَر

مِن عُيُونِ تَسْرِي

مِن عُيُونِ تَسْرِي

And forms will appear to you

And images will appear to you

from springs that flow.

From eyes that flow

فالتفت إن ظهر

فالتفت إن ظهر

في سماك الدرى

في سماك الدرى

So turn, if there appears

So turn around if the back becomes apparent

in your sky the radiant star.

In your celestial sphere the cosmos revolves around you

الفلك بيك يدور

الفلك بيك يدور

ويضيء ويلمع

ويضيء ويلمع

The celestial sphere turns through you

It illuminates and shines

and shines and gleams.

And the suns and planets

والشموس بِيكْ والْبُدُور

والشموس بِيكْ والْبُدُور

فِيكْ تَغيب وتَطْلع

فِيكْ تَغيب وتَطْلع

And the suns and full moons, through you,

Set and rise in you

set and rise within you.

So comprehend the meaning of the lines

فاقْرَ مَعْنَى السُّطُور

فاقْرَ مَعْنَى السُّطُور

الَّتي فِيكَ أجْمَعْ

الَّتي فِيكَ أجْمَعْ

So read the meaning of the lines

That lie gathered in you

that are all within you.

Do not miss a line

لاَ تُغادِرْ سَطْراً

لاَ تُغادِرْ سَطْراً

مِن سُطُورِكْ وادرِي

مِن سُطُورِكْ وادرِي

Leave not a single line

Of your lines, and know

of your lines, and know

What is the meaning of the moon

أيْشُ هُ مَعْنَى الْقَمَر

أيْشُ هُ مَعْنَى الْقَمَر

الذي فيكَ بِسري

الذي فيكَ بِسري

what the moon means,

That is secretly in you

which is within you through my secret.

My sea of thought is deep

بَحْر فِكْري عَمِيق

بَحْر فِكْري عَمِيق

مِسْكُ كُلّو يَعْبقْ

مِسْكُ كُلّو يَعْبقْ

The sea of my thought is deep,

Its musk is fragrant throughout

all of it musk, exuding fragrance.

Whoever enters it sincerely

مَن دَخَل لَوْ حَقيقْ

مَن دَخَل لَوْ حَقيقْ

ليْسَ يَخَافَ أنْ يَغْرق

ليْسَ يَخَافَ أنْ يَغْرق

Whoever truly enters it

Will not fear drowning

does not fear drowning.

The people of the path know

يَدْرُوا أهْلُ الطَّريقْ

يَدْرُوا أهْلُ الطَّريقْ

مِن كلاَم عبدِ الْحَقّ

مِن كلاَم عبدِ الْحَقّ

The people of the path know

That my sea

from the words of Abd al-Haqq

Cannot be measured by their sea

أنَّ ذَاكَ البَحَرْ

أنَّ ذَاكَ البَحَرْ

لَسْ يُقاس بِبَحْرِي

لَسْ يُقاس بِبَحْرِي

that that sea

The sea of my thought is made of pearls

cannot be compared with my sea.

And flowers are in my land

بَحْرُ فِكْرِي دُرَر

بَحْرُ فِكْرِي دُرَر

والزَّهْرُ في بَرِّي

والزَّهْرُ في بَرِّي

The sea of my thought is pearls,

So the discourse turned

and the flowers are on my land.

And I heard from myself

فالْتَفتُّ الْخِطابْ

فالْتَفتُّ الْخِطابْ

وسَمِعْتُوا مِنِّي

وسَمِعْتُوا مِنِّي

So I turned to the discourse

All of me became absent from me

and heard it from myself.

And I became annihilated from myself

كُلِّي عَنْ كُلِّي غابْ

كُلِّي عَنْ كُلِّي غابْ

وَأنَا عَنِّي مَفْنِي

وَأنَا عَنِّي مَفْنِي

My whole self vanished from my whole self,

The veil was lifted from me

and I am effaced from myself.

And I witnessed my essence

وارتَفَعْ لِي الْحِجاب

وارتَفَعْ لِي الْحِجاب

وشَهِدتُّ أُنِي

وشَهِدتُّ أُنِي

And the veil was lifted for me,

No trace of me remained

and I witnessed that I

I became absent with my trace

ما بَقالِي أثَرْ

ما بَقالِي أثَرْ

غبْتُ أنا مَعْ أثْرِي

غبْتُ أنا مَعْ أثْرِي

had no trace remaining.

None were found present

I myself vanished with my trace.

In reality other than me

لَم نَجِد مَنْ حَضَر

لَم نَجِد مَنْ حَضَر

فَي الْحَقيقهْ غَيرِي

فَي الْحَقيقهْ غَيرِي

I found no one present

My masters, understand

in reality but myself.

The meaning of my words

ساداتِي وافْهمُوا

ساداتِي وافْهمُوا

الْمُراد مِنْ قَوْلِي

الْمُراد مِنْ قَوْلِي

And, my masters, understand

My secret is not concealed

the intent of my speech.

From anyone of my people

سِرّي لَسْ نكْتُمُوا

سِرّي لَسْ نكْتُمُوا

عَنْ أحَد مِن أهْلِي

عَنْ أحَد مِن أهْلِي

I do not conceal my secret

Only those who are like me

from anyone among my people.

Will understand my words

قَوْلِي لَس يَفْهمُوا

قَوْلِي لَس يَفْهمُوا

إِلاَّ مَنْ هُ مِثْلِي

إِلاَّ مَنْ هُ مِثْلِي

No one understands my speech

The thread of my rosary scattered

except one who is like me.

And my pearls appeared to me

سِلْكُ عِقْدي انْتَثَر

سِلْكُ عِقْدي انْتَثَر

وبَدَا لِي دُرِّي

وبَدَا لِي دُرِّي

The strand of my necklace came undone,

String them, my companions

and my pearls appeared to me.

I am indeed intoxicated

انظموه يا جوَارْ

انظموه يا جوَارْ

إِنَّنِي في سُكْرِي

إِنَّنِي في سُكْرِي

String it together, O maidens,

for I am intoxicated.
