دارَت عليك الاقْداح

بِرَوحٍ ورَاحْ

The cups have come round to you,

The cups circled around you

With refreshment and wine.

With spirit and ease

فعجْ على الْخَمَّار

فعجْ على الْخَمَّار

بخلع العذار

بخلع العذار

So turn aside to the wine-seller,

Rejoice over the tavern-keeper

Casting off the bridle.

With shedding inhibitions

تُنْصِر سنا الأنْوار

تُنْصِر سنا الأنْوار

إِذا ما تُدار

إِذا ما تُدار

You aid the radiance of the lights,

You bring victory to the light of the teeth

When it is passed around.

When rotated

وعالَمُ الأسْرارْ

وعالَمُ الأسْرارْ

يَلُحْ لَكَ جِهَارْ

يَلُحْ لَكَ جِهَارْ

And the world of mysteries

And the world of secrets

Appears openly to you.

Beckons you openly

والرَّاح روحُ الأرواح

والرَّاح روحُ الأرواح

ما فيها جُناحْ

ما فيها جُناحْ

And wine is the spirit of spirits;

And the breeze is the spirit of spirits

There is no sin in it.

In it there are no wings

دارَت عليْكَ الأقْداح

دارَت عليْكَ الأقْداح

برَوحْ ورَاح

برَوحْ ورَاح

The cups have come round to you,

The cups circled around you

With refreshment and wine.

With spirit and ease

جمالها مشهورْ

جمالها مشهورْ

في الدِّين القديم

في الدِّين القديم

Its beauty is renowned

Its beauty is well-known

In the ancient faith.

In the ancient religion

لاَحت ولاَحَ النُّور

لاَحت ولاَحَ النُّور

في اللَّيل البهيمْ

في اللَّيل البهيمْ

It shone, and the light shone,

The light beamed and beamed

In the pitch-black night.

In the fearful night

ودُكَّ مِنْها الطُّور

ودُكَّ مِنْها الطُّور

لموسى الكليم

لموسى الكليم

And through it the Mount was crushed,

And Mount Sinai shook

For Moses, who spoke with God.

For Moses the Speaker

وحين الْقى الألْواح

وحين الْقى الألْواح

بالمكتوم باحْ

بالمكتوم باحْ

And when he cast down the tablets,

And when he cast down the tablets

He spoke openly of the hidden.

With the hidden it opened

دارَت عليك الأقداح

The cups have come round to you,

The cups circled around you

With refreshment and wine.

With spirit and ease

جاءت بأنس النَّفْس

جاءت بأنس النَّفْس

والسِّحْرِ الحلال

والسِّحْرِ الحلال

It came with solace for the soul,

It came with the intimacy of the soul

And lawful enchantment.

And permitted sorcery

نزِّهَت عن جِنْس

نزِّهَت عن جِنْس

جَلَّت عن مثال

جَلَّت عن مثال

It was exalted beyond any category;

It purified from the kind

It transcended any likeness.

Rose above the example

وأشْرَقَت كالشَّمس

وأشْرَقَت كالشَّمس

في أفِقْ الجمال

في أفِقْ الجمال

And it shone like the sun

And shone like the sun

On the horizon of beauty.

On the horizon of beauty

وبَشَّرت بالأفْراح

وبَشَّرت بالأفْراح

لأَهْلِ الفلاح

لأَهْلِ الفلاح

And it brought glad tidings of joys

And it brought good news of joys

To the people of salvation.

To the people of success

دارَت عليْكَ الاقْداح

بِرَوْحٍ وراحْ

بِرَوْحٍ وراحْ

The cups have come round to you,

The cups circled around you

With refreshment and wine.

With spirit and ease

يا كلَّ كلِّ الكل

يا كلَّ كلِّ الكل

جُدْ لِي بِرِضاكْ

جُدْ لِي بِرِضاكْ

O All of all of the All,

O all of all creation

Grant me your good pleasure.

Be pleased with me

إِنْ لم تكُنِ لي مَن لي

إِنْ لم تكُنِ لي مَن لي

محْبوب سِواك

محْبوب سِواك

If you are not mine, who is mine—

If I have none but You

A beloved other than you?

As my beloved

وإِنَّ يَوْمَ الْهَول

وإِنَّ يَوْمَ الْهَول

قصْدي أنْ أراك

قصْدي أنْ أراك

And indeed, on the day of terror,

And on the day of terror

My aim is to see you.

My purpose is to see You

شَوْقي إِليْك الْمِفْتَاح

شَوْقي إِليْك الْمِفْتَاح

لِبَابِ الفلاح

لِبَابِ الفلاح

My longing for you is the key

To the door of salvation.

To the door of success

Through the chosen Hashimite,

With the Chosen Hashimi

The guide, the Messenger,

The Guiding Messenger

أرْجُو قَضا الأوْتارْ

أرْجُو قَضا الأوْتارْ

ونَيْلَ القَبُول

ونَيْلَ القَبُول

I hope for the fulfillment of wishes,

I hope for the end of the strings

And the attainment of acceptance,

And the attainment of acceptance

والعفوَ عن الأوزار

والعفوَ عن الأوزار

في اليوم الْمَهُول

في اليوم الْمَهُول

And pardon for the burdens of sin,

And forgiveness of burdens

On the dreadful day.

On the momentous day

فَفي هذه الأمداح

فَفي هذه الأمداح

نَشْرُ المسْكِ فاحْ

نَشْرُ المسْكِ فاحْ

For in these praises,

So in these praises

The fragrance of musk has spread.

The spreading of musk blew
