Sol 6.1

  1. يا كِثير الملامْ

    لا تَلُمْنا دَعْنَا

    O you so full of blame,

    Do not blame us; leave us be.

  2. نحنُ أهّلُ الغرامْ

    كلُ معنى مَعْنا

    We are the people of passionate love;

    Every meaning is with us.

  3. نحن قومٌ لنا

    في المعاني أسرارْ

    We are a people who have

    Secrets within meanings.

  4. الهوى طبْعُنا

    والولوعْ والأذكار

    Love is our nature,

    And ardent devotion and invocations,

  5. والطَّرَبْ والغِنا

    به تزول الأغيار

    And rapture and song;

    Through it, all else vanishes.

  6. لا تُكاثِرْ كلامْ

    العِذَارْ أخْلَعْنا

    Do not multiply words;

    We have cast off the bridle.

  7. رَقَّ معنى الهوى

    في النفوْس والأشباحْ

    Love's meaning grew subtle

    In souls and bodily forms,

  8. وظَهَر واحتوى

    في الصدورْ والأرواحْ

    And manifested itself and took hold

    In breasts and spirits.

  9. ياخِّلي الجوى

    لو ذقت مِنْ الراحْ

    O you free of love's anguish,

    If only you tasted some of the wine!

  10. يا لهُ مِنْ مُدَامْ

    من سَكَرْ به غنَّى

    Oh, what a wine it is!

    Whoever is drunk on it sings.

  11. شَرَبوه الكرامْ

    وُلْهم فيه مَعنىْ

    The noble drank it,

    And for them it holds a meaning:

  12. خمراً صافي زلالْ

    ليس هُ مِنْ أعنابْ

    A wine, pure and crystal-clear,

    It is not made from grapes.

  13. شَاهدوه الرِّجالْ

    بالقلوْب والألبابْ

    The men beheld it

    With hearts and minds.

  14. خصَّهُم ذو الجلال

    الكريمْ الوهاْب

    The Possessor of Majesty singled them out,

    The Generous, the Bestower,

  15. بالهنا الْمُسْتَدَامْ

    إِذا عَلَيهِ الميني

    With everlasting bliss.

    If, upon it, [the final word is unclear].

  16. همْ أناسٌ كِرَامْ

    في محَلٍ أسنى

    They are noble people

    In a loftier station.
