فيin القلبthe heart موضعْa place للحبيبfor the beloved
في القلب موضعْ للحبيب
إنwhether غابْhe is absent عنهfrom it أوor حضرْhe is present
إن غابْ عنه أو حضرْ
In the heart is a place for the beloved,
In my heart there's a place for my beloved
Whether he is absent from it or present.
If he's absent or present
والغيرand anyone else مالهhe has no نصيبْshare
والغير ماله نصيبْ
ولاnor المليكِthe sovereign فيat الحشرْthe gathering for judgment
ولا المليكِ في الحشرْ
And no one else has a share,
Others have no share
Nor the sovereign at the Gathering.
Not even the king on judgement day
دعنيleave me وإِنand even if طالْlasts long المغِيبْthe absence
دعني وإِن طالْ المغِيبْ
نحفظْI preserve ودادهhis love كيفas أمرْhe commanded
نحفظْ وداده كيف أمرْ
Leave me, though the absence be long;
Let me be though his absence is long
I preserve his love as he commanded.
We'll keep his love as he wished
كيفhow لاnot نكونI am عبدْa slave مطيعْobedient
كيف لا نكون عبدْ مطيعْ
قليبيmy little heart حصلwas caught لهfor him فيin الشركْthe snare
قليبي حصل له في الشركْ
How could I not be an obedient slave?
How can we not be obedient slaves
My little heart has fallen into his snare.
My heart is his partner
دعهlet him يحررhe frees أوor يبيعْhe sells
دعه يحرر أو يبيعْ
مَنْwho يمنعهrestrains him فيماin what ملكْhe owns
مَنْ يمنعه فيما ملكْ
Let him set it free or sell it;
Leave it to free or sell itself
Who can restrain him in what he owns?
Who can stop it from what it owns
