إِلى حَبِيبي نَتْرُكْ أوْطانِي

عسَى يَرَانِي

عسَى يَرَانِي

I leave my homelands to go to my beloved,

To my beloved we leave our homelands

hoping he may see me.

May he see me

قُطْبُ الهُدَى رَوْحي ورَيْحاني

قُطْبُ الهُدَى رَوْحي ورَيْحاني

سَكَنْ جنانِي

سَكَنْ جنانِي

The pole of guidance, my solace and my sweet basil,

The polestar of guidance, my soul and delight

has dwelt in my heart.

Who settled my heavens

مُجْلِي الصَّدَى عَن قلبي اَلْعانِي

مُجْلِي الصَّدَى عَن قلبي اَلْعانِي

غايَةْ أمانِي

غايَةْ أمانِي

He who clears the rust from my captive heart,

Erasing the echoes from my suffering heart

the ultimate object of my hopes.

The apex of my wishes

هُوَ الْهِدايَهْ يُهْتدَى

هُوَ الْهِدايَهْ يُهْتدَى

وهْ شفيعنا غَدَ

وهْ شفيعنا غَدَ

He is guidance, through whom one is guided,

He is the guidance, guided

and he is our intercessor tomorrow.

And our intercessor tomorrow

بِحُبِّهِ نَبْقَى كَذَا دايمْ

بِحُبِّهِ نَبْقَى كَذَا دايمْ

سَكْرانْ هايِمْ

سَكْرانْ هايِمْ

Through love of him I remain forever thus:

With his love we remain thus always

drunk and love-bewildered.

Intoxicated, raving

وَصْلُوا نعِم نُورِي وبُرْهانِي

وَصْلُوا نعِم نُورِي وبُرْهانِي

وإٍصلاح زمانِي

وإٍصلاح زمانِي

Union with him—yes—is my light and my proof,

His light united me and proved me

and the setting right of my days.

And reformed my time

قلْبي يَهِيم في حُبِّهِ فانِي

قلْبي يَهِيم في حُبِّهِ فانِي

يا كُلّ مَنْ رآني

يا كُلّ مَنْ رآني

My heart wanders in his love, lost to itself.

My heart raves, lost in his love

O all who have seen me!

O all who saw me

رُوحِي فِداه نعَم وجُثْمانِي

رُوحِي فِداه نعَم وجُثْمانِي

نُوروا كَسانِي

نُوروا كَسانِي

My soul is his ransom—yes, and my body.

My soul is ransom, yes, and my body

His light has clothed me.

Light up my companions

بِه اهْتَدَى مَنْ قد هَدَ

بِه اهْتَدَى مَنْ قد هَدَ

ى وبسيفه قَهَرَ الْعِدَى

ى وبسيفه قَهَرَ الْعِدَى

Through him, whoever has guided found guidance;

By him the guided found guidance

and with his sword he subdued the foes.

And by his sword conquered the enemy

بحبه نبقَى كذَا دايِمْ

بحبه نبقَى كذَا دايِمْ

سَكْرانَ هايِمْ

سَكْرانَ هايِمْ

Through love of him I remain forever thus:

With his love we remain thus always

drunk and love-bewildered.

Intoxicated, raving

بَدْرٌ بَدَا سِرَّا وإِعْلانِ

بَدْرٌ بَدَا سِرَّا وإِعْلانِ

شمْسُ الْمعانِي

شمْسُ الْمعانِي

A full moon appeared, in secret and openly,

A full moon appeared, secretly and openly

the sun of meanings.

The sun of meanings

نبِيٌّ كرِيمْ مَكَّي وعدنانِي

نبِيٌّ كرِيمْ مَكَّي وعدنانِي

حُسْنُوا سَبانِي

حُسْنُوا سَبانِي

A noble prophet, Meccan and Adnanite:

A noble prophet, Meccan and Adnanite

his beauty took me captive.

Beautify my praise

صَدْرِي سَكَنْ وباحْ كتماني

صَدْرِي سَكَنْ وباحْ كتماني

اللهْ أعْطانِي

اللهْ أعْطانِي

He dwelt in my breast, and my secret came to light.

My chest settled and confessed its secret

God has granted me this.

God gave me

قُطْبُ الهدى غَيْثُ الندى

قُطْبُ الهدى غَيْثُ الندى

وبه أنانَنْكِ العِدَى

وبه أنانَنْكِ العِدَى

The pole of guidance, the rain of generosity,

The polestar, rain of dew

and through him I smite the foes.

And by it the enemy wailed

بِحُبِّهِ نبقى كذَا دايِم

بِحُبِّهِ نبقى كذَا دايِم

سكرانَ هايِم

سكرانَ هايِم

Through love of him I remain forever thus:

With his love we remain thus always

drunk and love-bewildered.

Intoxicated, raving

ربِّي الكريم بِمدْحُوا بَهانِي

ربِّي الكريم بِمدْحُوا بَهانِي

ورَفَعْ شانِي

ورَفَعْ شانِي

My generous Lord adorned me through praise of him,

My Lord Most Generous, by praising him

and raised my standing.

Raised my stature

فضْلُوا عَمِيم بالخيرِ والآنِي

فضْلُوا عَمِيم بالخيرِ والآنِي

وأصْبَحْتُ هانِي

وأصْبَحْتُ هانِي

His bounty is all-embracing; with goodness he favored me,

His overflowing grace in good and gifts

and I have become content.

And I became delighted

إِرمِ السِّلاحْ لِحُكْمِ ربَّانِي

إِرمِ السِّلاحْ لِحُكْمِ ربَّانِي

وفي ضَمانِي

وفي ضَمانِي

Lay down your arms before the divine decree,

Cast down your weapons by command of my Lord

and under my protection.

And in my protection

إِرْمِ العِدَى كَي تُفْتَدى

إِرْمِ العِدَى كَي تُفْتَدى

وتكُن عتيق لمحمَّدا

وتكُن عتيق لمحمَّدا

Assail the foes, that you may be ransomed,

Cast down the enemy that you may be ransomed

and become a freedman of Muhammad.

And become a freeman of Muhammad

بحبِّهِ نَبْقَى كذَا دايم

بحبِّهِ نَبْقَى كذَا دايم

سَكْرانَ هايِم

سَكْرانَ هايِم

Through love of him I remain forever thus:

With his love we remain thus always

drunk and love-bewildered.

Intoxicated, raving

صلُّوا عليهِ معشرَ إِخواني

صلُّوا عليهِ معشرَ إِخواني

طُولَ الدَّوامِ

طُولَ الدَّوامِ

Invoke blessings upon him, O company of my brothers,

Pray upon him, company of my brothers

for all eternity.

For all time

وارْضُوا عَلى أصْحابِه الأعيان

وارْضُوا عَلى أصْحابِه الأعيان

سادَه كِرام

سادَه كِرام

And invoke divine favor upon his eminent companions,

And be pleased with his eminent companions

noble masters:

The masters of nobility

مَوْلاى عتِيق وعُمَر وعُثمانِ

مَوْلاى عتِيق وعُمَر وعُثمانِ

وعَلِي إِمامِ

وعَلِي إِمامِ

my master ʿAtīq, and ʿUmar, and ʿUthmān,

My master, freeman, and Omar and Othman

and ʿAlī, the imam.

And Ali the Imam

السُّعَدَا الشُّهَدا

السُّعَدَا الشُّهَدا

الْمُتَّقِينَ السُّؤْدَدَا

الْمُتَّقِينَ السُّؤْدَدَا

The blessed, the martyrs,

The fortunate martyrs

the God-fearing, the eminent.

The pious, excellent

بحُبِّهِ نبقى كذا دايم

بحُبِّهِ نبقى كذا دايم

سكْرَانَ هايم

سكْرَانَ هايم

Through love of him I remain forever thus:

With his love we remain thus always

drunk and love-bewildered.
