للِفقرِ أهلٌ فَكُن لهمْ تبعَا

للِفقرِ أهلٌ فَكُن لهمْ تبعَا

واعملْ على حبّهم وخِدمِتهمْ

واعملْ على حبّهم وخِدمِتهمْ

Poverty has its people; so be their follower.

And strive to love and serve them.

إن عرفت نفسك النفيسة ما

إن عرفت نفسك النفيسة ما

تطلُبُ فاطلُبْ عُلوَ نسبتهم

تطلُبُ فاطلُبْ عُلوَ نسبتهم

If your precious soul knows what

it seeks, then seek the nobility of their lineage.

تكون منهم إذا هُم عُرِضُوا

تكون منهم إذا هُم عُرِضُوا

فيِ أولِ الصّف يَومَ دولتِهم

فيِ أولِ الصّف يَومَ دولتِهم

You will be among them when they are brought forth,

in the foremost rank on the day of their ascendancy,

بين يدي ربنا تبارك من

بين يدي ربنا تبارك من

قدرَّ في حُكمِه برفعتهم

قدرَّ في حُكمِه برفعتهم

before our Lord—blessed is He who

decreed in His judgment that they be exalted.

يوم ترى الفخر لا وجُود لهُ

يوم ترى الفخر لا وجُود لهُ

إِلا لهُم عزّهم بذلتهم

إِلا لهُم عزّهم بذلتهم

On the day you see that glory exists for none

but them; their honor lies in their humility.

مُحبّهُم والَّذي يوَقرُهُم

مُحبّهُم والَّذي يوَقرُهُم

ومن نحَا نحوهم بجملتهم

ومن نحَا نحوهم بجملتهم

Whoever loves them and whoever reveres them,

and whoever follows their way—all of them—

قَومٌ تمنى المُلُوكُ رُتبتَهم

قَومٌ تمنى المُلُوكُ رُتبتَهم

لِما رأوْا من سُمر رفعتهم

لِما رأوْا من سُمر رفعتهم

are a people whose rank kings have coveted,

for what they saw of their exaltation’s dark lances [wording unclear].

وأمرٌ من اللهِ سابِقُ لهم

وأمرٌ من اللهِ سابِقُ لهم

وقسمةٌ فانتهوا لقسمتهم

وقسمةٌ فانتهوا لقسمتهم

And a decree from God was made for them beforehand,

and an allotted share—so yield to their allotment.
