لقَدْ أنَا شَيءٌ عَجيبْ

لِمَن رآنِي

لِمَن رآنِي

Indeed, I am a wondrous thing

to whoever has seen me.

أنا الْمُحبُّ والحبيب

أنا الْمُحبُّ والحبيب

لَس ثَمَّ ثانِي

لَس ثَمَّ ثانِي

I am the lover and the beloved;

there is no second.

يا قاصِدَ عَيْنَ الْخَبرْ

يا قاصِدَ عَيْنَ الْخَبرْ

غطَّاهْ غَيْنَك

غطَّاهْ غَيْنَك

O seeker of the essence of the tidings,

your veil has covered it.

إِرْجَع لِذاتكَ واعْتَبِر

إِرْجَع لِذاتكَ واعْتَبِر

ما ثَمَّ غيْرَك

ما ثَمَّ غيْرَك

Return to your own self and reflect:

there is none other than you.

فالخيرُ مِنَّك والْخبَرْ

فالخيرُ مِنَّك والْخبَرْ

والسِّرُّ عِنْدَك

والسِّرُّ عِنْدَك

For goodness and tidings come from you,

and the secret is with you.

وأنْتَ مِرآةُ النَّظَر

وأنْتَ مِرآةُ النَّظَر

قُطْبُ الزَّمانِ

قُطْبُ الزَّمانِ

And you are the mirror of the gaze,

the pole of the age.

وفِيك يُطْوَى ما انْتَشَرْ

وفِيك يُطْوَى ما انْتَشَرْ

مِنَ الأوانِي

مِنَ الأوانِي

And within you is folded what has spread

from the vessels.

اسْمَعْ كلامِي والْتَهِم

اسْمَعْ كلامِي والْتَهِم

إِنْ كُنْتَ تَفْهام

إِنْ كُنْتَ تَفْهام

Hear my words and devour them,

if you are discerning.

لأنَّ كَنْزَك قد عَرَى

لأنَّ كَنْزَك قد عَرَى

عن كلِّ طَلْسام

عن كلِّ طَلْسام

For your treasure has been stripped bare

of every talisman.

مِنْهُ الْمُكَلِّم والْكَلِيم

مِنْهُ الْمُكَلِّم والْكَلِيم

على طُور الأفْهام

على طُور الأفْهام

From it come the speaker and the one addressed

upon the Sinai of understanding.

اسْمَعْ نِدايَ مِن قرِيب

اسْمَعْ نِدايَ مِن قرِيب

بِلاَ أذانِ

بِلاَ أذانِ

Hear my call from close by,

without ears.

وشمسُ ذاتِي لا تَغِيب

وشمسُ ذاتِي لا تَغِيب

عَنِ العيانِ

عَنِ العيانِ

And the sun of my essence never vanishes

from sight.

أنْظُر جَمالِي شاهداً

أنْظُر جَمالِي شاهداً

في كلِّ إِنْسانْ

في كلِّ إِنْسانْ

Behold my beauty, manifest

in every human being,

كالماءِ يَجْرِي نافِذاً

كالماءِ يَجْرِي نافِذاً

في أُسْ الأغصان

في أُسْ الأغصان

like water flowing, penetrating

through the base of the branches.

يُسْقَى بِماءٍ واحِد

يُسْقَى بِماءٍ واحِد

والزَّهْرُ ألْوانْ

والزَّهْرُ ألْوانْ

It is watered with the same water,

yet the blossoms are of many colors.

فاسْجُد لِهَيْبَةْ ذِي الْجَلال

فاسْجُد لِهَيْبَةْ ذِي الْجَلال

عِنْدَ التَّدانِي

عِنْدَ التَّدانِي

So prostrate yourself in awe of the Possessor of Majesty

when drawing near.

ولْتَقْرَأ آياتِ الكمالْ

ولْتَقْرَأ آياتِ الكمالْ

سَبْعاً مَثانِي

سَبْعاً مَثانِي

And recite the verses of perfection—

seven, oft-repeated.
