    ولمولاه توجه

    He has triumphed who set distractions aside

    and turned toward his Master.

  3. كنت قبل اليومِ حائر

    في زوايا الكونِ دائرْ

    Before today, I was bewildered,

    wandering through the corners of the universe,

  4. في بحارِ الفكرِ ملقى

    بين أمواجِ الخواطر

    cast into the seas of thought,

    amid the waves of passing thoughts.

  5. والذي كان مرادي

    لم يزل في القلب حاضرْ

    And the one I sought

    was always present in the heart.

  6. كشف الستَر عن عيني

    وبدا في كلِ بهجه

    He lifted the veil from my eyes

    and appeared in every delight.

  7. فازَ من حلَى الشواغلْ

    ولمولاه توجه

    He has triumphed who set distractions aside

    and turned toward his Master.

  8. جمع الله شتاتي

    وتوالت فرحاتي

    God gathered my scattered parts,

    and my joys followed one another.

  9. وغدا محبوبُ قلبي

    عينَ ذاتي وصفاتي

    And my heart's beloved became

    the very same as my essence and attributes.

  10. يا سروري وانتعاشي

    ويا دوام حياتي

    O my joy and my revival,

    and O my life's continuance!

  11. لستُ بعد اليومِ أخشى

    ولمولاه توجه

    After today, I shall fear no more.

    and turned toward his Master.

  12. أنا محبوب القلوب

    أصبحَ اليوم نصيبي

    For me, the beloved of hearts

    has today become my portion.

  13. وتجلى سروا ليّ

    للعيان من قريبِ

    And he revealed himself to me in secret,

    in plain sight, close at hand.

  14. فاشتاقوا طلعة وجهي

    لتروا وجه حبيبي

    So yearn for the sight of my face,

    that you may see my beloved's face.

  15. هكذا الوصل

    وكأن لم يكن والله حجه

    Such is union.

    And it is as though, by God, no argument had ever existed.

  16. فاز من خلَى الشواعلْ

    ولمولاه توجه

    He has triumphed who set distractions aside

    and turned toward his Master.

  17. أنا مشغولٌ بذاتي

    عن جميع الكائناتِ

    I am absorbed in my own essence,

    to the exclusion of all beings.

  18. لم أزلْ بين الصحاة

    متوالي السكراتِ

    I have always been among the sober,

    in successive states of intoxication,

  19. غائباً عن كل أين

    في جميع الخطراتِ

    absent from every 'where',

    in all passing thoughts.

  20. أنا من عشاق وقتي

    في الهوى أصدق نهجه

    I am among the lovers of my moment;

    in love, I affirm his way.

  21. فاز من خلَى الشواعلْ

    ولمولاه توجه

    He has triumphed who set distractions aside

    and turned toward his Master.

  22. لا تخافوا يا صاحبي

    بعدَ هذا من عتابي

    Do not fear, O my companion,

    my reproach after this.

  23. أنا محبوبي تجلى

    واتجلى من دون نقاب

    As for me, my beloved has revealed himself,

    and I reveal myself without a veil.

  24. مجردٌ ليس عليه

    ملبس غير ثيابي

    Stripped bare, he wears no

    garment other than my clothes.

  25. ها أنا من كل وجه

    عنده والله أوجه

    Here I am, in every respect,

    more esteemed in his sight, by God.

  26. فاز من خلّى الشواغل

    ولمولاه توجه
