قد لاَحَ لِيَّا مِنِّي

قد لاَحَ لِيَّا مِنِّي

سِر بَدَا عجِيب

سِر بَدَا عجِيب

There has shone upon me, from myself,

a wondrous secret, now revealed,

حتَّى رأيْتُ أنِّي

حتَّى رأيْتُ أنِّي

عَن حضْرتي لا نَغيب

عَن حضْرتي لا نَغيب

until I saw that I

am never absent from my own presence.

أنا ما زِلْتُ حاضِرْ

أنا ما زِلْتُ حاضِرْ

حاضِر في كلِّ حين

حاضِر في كلِّ حين

I have never ceased to be present,

present at every moment.

عيْني إليَّا ناظِر

عيْني إليَّا ناظِر

ناظِر طُولَ السِّنين

ناظِر طُولَ السِّنين

My eye looks toward me,

looking throughout the years.

والحق فِيَّا ظاهِرْ

والحق فِيَّا ظاهِرْ

ظاهر لِذِي يقين

ظاهر لِذِي يقين

And the Real is manifest in me,

manifest to one possessed of certainty.

من قالَ أنا وإنِّي

من قالَ أنا وإنِّي

قد أوفي بالْمَغيب

قد أوفي بالْمَغيب

Whoever says 'I' and 'indeed I'

has passed wholly into absence.

إن قيلَ هذَا عَنِّي

إن قيلَ هذَا عَنِّي

قد أحْرَم النَّصيب

قد أحْرَم النَّصيب

If this is said of me,

he has forfeited his share.

من هُ يا قَوم ولْدِي

من هُ يا قَوم ولْدِي

ولْدِي يا قوْم آنا

ولْدِي يا قوْم آنا

Who is my son, O people?

My son, O people, is myself.

أوَ تَدْروا مَن هُو جدَّي

أوَ تَدْروا مَن هُو جدَّي

جدَّي سَبقتوا أنا

جدَّي سَبقتوا أنا

And do you know who my grandfather is?

My grandfather—I preceded him.

أنا ما زِلْتُ وحْدِي

أنا ما زِلْتُ وحْدِي

وحْدي ما زِلْتُ أنا

وحْدي ما زِلْتُ أنا

I have always been alone,

alone I have always been.

ومن حَكَمْ بعَيْني

ومن حَكَمْ بعَيْني

أخْطا ولم يُصيبْ

أخْطا ولم يُصيبْ

And whoever judges my essence

errs and misses the mark.

قُلُّوا إليْكَ عَنِّي

قُلُّوا إليْكَ عَنِّي

ما أنْتَ لي نَسيبْ

ما أنْتَ لي نَسيبْ

Say, 'Keep away from me;

you are no kin of mine.'

يا من يرَانِي شفْعَا

يا من يرَانِي شفْعَا

الشَّفْعَ بيَ ظهرْ

الشَّفْعَ بيَ ظهرْ

O you who see me as two,

duality has appeared through me.

رُدَّ الوُجُودْ جَمعا

رُدَّ الوُجُودْ جَمعا

فالْفَرْقُ في الصُّوَرْ

فالْفَرْقُ في الصُّوَرْ

Restore existence to unity,

for distinctions lie in forms.

واحْكُم بهَذا قَطْعَا

واحْكُم بهَذا قَطْعَا

أنا مالِي أخَرْ

أنا مالِي أخَرْ

And judge this with certainty:

I have no other.

مَلأتُ كلُّ أينِ

مَلأتُ كلُّ أينِ

ولمْ نَزَلْ مُجيبْ

ولمْ نَزَلْ مُجيبْ

I have filled every 'where',

and I have never ceased to answer

لكلِّ من هو مَدْني

لكلِّ من هو مَدْني

من حضْرِتي قرِيبْ

من حضْرِتي قرِيبْ

everyone who is close to me,

near to my presence.

إِن كُنت ممن تَحقَّقْ

إِن كُنت ممن تَحقَّقْ

فِي الْكَوْن قَوْلَ كُونْ

فِي الْكَوْن قَوْلَ كُونْ

If you are among those who have realized

within creation the word 'Be',

صِحْ في الوُجُود مُطْلق

صِحْ في الوُجُود مُطْلق

خفى عَنِ الْعُيونْ

خفى عَنِ الْعُيونْ

proclaim absolute Being,

hidden from the eyes.

نُور الحقيقة يشرقْ

نُور الحقيقة يشرقْ

وسرَّها مصُونْ

وسرَّها مصُونْ

The light of Reality shines,

and its secret is guarded.

لَمْ قطْ يسعْهَا أيْني

لَمْ قطْ يسعْهَا أيْني

ولاَ لها مَغِيبْ

ولاَ لها مَغِيبْ

My 'where' has never encompassed it,

nor is it ever absent.

وقد وسِعْها كَوْنِي

وقد وسِعْها كَوْنِي

وغَيْرِي قد حُجِيب

وغَيْرِي قد حُجِيب

Yet my being has encompassed it,

while others besides me have been veiled.

لاَ تحْسِبوني نَبْلاَ

لاَ تحْسِبوني نَبْلاَ

أن نسْكُنُ القُبورْ

أن نسْكُنُ القُبورْ

Do not think that I decay

if I dwell in the graves.

سِرَّ ما زَالَ يُجْلاَ

سِرَّ ما زَالَ يُجْلاَ

في بُسْتان الصُّدورْ

في بُسْتان الصُّدورْ

A secret is ever being unveiled

in the garden of bosoms.

والحضْرة بيا أوْلَى

والحضْرة بيا أوْلَى

ما بَيْنَ بَنين وحورْ

ما بَيْنَ بَنين وحورْ

And the Presence has a greater claim to me,

among boys and houris.

وهذا هُ في ظَنِّي

وهذا هُ في ظَنِّي

وَقَصْدي لاَ يَخِيبْ

وَقَصْدي لاَ يَخِيبْ

And this is what I believe,

and my aim will not fail.

مَتَى تَرى يا عَيْنِي

مَتَى تَرى يا عَيْنِي

مَنازِلَ الحبيبْ

مَنازِلَ الحبيبْ

When will you see, O my eye,

the dwellings of the Beloved?
