لا يَصلُحُ الناسُ فَوضى لا سَراةَ لَهُم

لا يَصلُحُ الناسُ فَوضى لا سَراةَ لَهُم

وَلا سَراةَ إِذا جُهّالُهُم سادوا

وَلا سَراةَ إِذا جُهّالُهُم سادوا

People cannot thrive in disorder, with no leaders among them.

Nor are there leaders when their ignorant ones rule.

وَالبَيتُ لا يُبتَنى إِلّا لَهُ عَمَدٌ

وَالبَيتُ لا يُبتَنى إِلّا لَهُ عَمَدٌ

وَلا عِمادَ إِذا لَم تُرسَ أَوتادُ

وَلا عِمادَ إِذا لَم تُرسَ أَوتادُ

A house cannot be built unless it has pillars.

And there is no support if the stakes are not set firm.

فَإِن تَجَمَّعَ أَوتادٌ وَأَعمِدَةٌ

فَإِن تَجَمَّعَ أَوتادٌ وَأَعمِدَةٌ

لِمَعشَرٍ بَلغوا الأَمرَ الَّذي كادوا

لِمَعشَرٍ بَلغوا الأَمرَ الَّذي كادوا

So if stakes and pillars come together

for a people, they attain the goal they had nearly reached.
